Stand Up Comedy

Brian Regan’s CD’s are chock full of good bits pretty much all the way through.

Joe Rogan is a great stand up. Interesting ideas with a great delivery.

Ron Whites “Drunk in Public” CD is a classic.

Louis CK has aged like a fine wine, probably the best working comic today in terms of turning the sad and dark into comedy.

Do you mean the old brilliant Dennis Miller, or the current reactionary chicken-shit conservative Miller?

lol

The chicken shit one :frowning:

Okay… sorry. He IS still funny, but much of his fire has cooled since 9/11.

White is the ONLY “redneck” comic that I really like. He brings a level of cool to it that the others utterly lack.

X2

I love Louis CK. He does that 'didja ever notice" kind of stuff that i like and still gets some good cursing in there too.

Dylan Moran of black books fame!

What’s the name of that Mexican guy that goes all out on the race jokes?

Some funny shit there…

If you mean Carlos Mencia, he’s not Mexican, or even remotely funny. One of his most popular routines was ripped off from Bill Cosby almost word for word.

See, now THAT’s funny. That other guy isn’t on the same level.

Much of this comes down to delivery…and way too many British, English comedians seem to lack this.[/quote]

Ricky Gervais is awesome on every level. His BBC version of “The Office” destroyed the US version in every way, IMO…

Mencia owns a chain of restuarants here called “Maggie Ritas”. He was on a radio show a couple of months ago explaining how they steal recipes [he actually used the word “steal”] from other restuarants for his own. I tried calling in to say “I find it really funny that the dude who’s made a living stealing jokes is now making a living stealing recipes” but I couldn’t get through.

Dave Chappelle [THE BEST]
Bill Maher
Jimmy Carr
Chris Rock
George Carlin [less funny, more interesting]
Jon Stewart
Jim Gaffigan
Richard Pryor
Norm MacDonald

I need to get familiar with Louis CK and Lewis Black. Also: I’ve seen very short clips of Larry David stand up and it was good, had to mention.

Some underrated stuff:
Craig Robinson - Def Comedy Jam - YouTube [the end is amazing]

Still like him though.

Forgot Harland Williams and Norm McDonald.

He does make a valid point though, maybe without even knowing it.

Yes, Arnold got to where he is by lifting things.

Heavy things.

Over and over and over again.

Most people dont.

Now of course one can make fun of that, but what is the point when people who do that get what they want while you dont?

haha the irony…

Anyway, to me personally it’s hard to beat Eddie Murphy in the 80s with Raw and his other works.

Harland is absolutely in a league of his own, especially when getting interviewed:

This is one of I think 5 of him and Conan, these two play GREAT off of each other.

Possibly my all time favourite.

I remember seeing him in his first “comeback gig”. It lasted about five minutes. For four minutes I was like WTF? The last minute I absolutely pissed myself laughing.

…sugar effigy of the Pope’s face. Classic.

I wouldn’t list him as one of the greats now, but Daniel Tosh has his moments.

Quality sucks:

That’s awesome dude. This is my favourite Norm MacDonald and Conan interview:

Part 3 when he interrupting the other guest’s interview is actually the best, LOL.

How about Ralphie May. I can’t believe he hasn’t been mentioned.
