Staley Bootcamp - Oct. 15

3 sessions down, and Dan John on deck. Holy crap!! The Z Health discussion was fantastic. Dr Cobb took Dan John and, in three minutes, drastically increased his lifting form and ease of motion (of a sandbag shoulder press) with a couple simple ankle amd shoulder motions. Even if it is snake oil, I am in.

Then Josh and Keats told us about infusing fun into lifting and turned a couple large massed guys into heaving wrecks in a couple minutes of ‘odd lifts’. It was cool, especially to watch some of the women out perform the guys on these lifts.

Jules, I got Nate duty. I noticed him shifting and fidgetting a bit during the last presentation. Shortly after, I also noticed a green haze in the air, my vision blurred, and my hair started falling out in clumps. Maybe that’s why he’s bald. Too much exposure to his hard boiled egg aftermath. . .

BTW, to the T-peeps not here. One of the goody bags to be given away ina couple hours is valued at almost $1500. The rest of the raffle stuff is just awesome, it looks like chrismas morning without the tree, lights, snow, or grandma soaking her bunions.

Some of the guys here are a bit too wide for the chair spacing, no names, just to protect Dave “seat hog” Barr, but other than that, everything is great.

It’s awesome to listen to the presentations and catch all the great information and advice going around today.

It’s lunch break right now… I was trying to catch a nap, oh err, I mean cogitate on the material presented and integrate it into my knowlege base or something but apparently it was time to clean the room.

Boot Camp was great. Dan John=awsomization. Last night was a good time and today he gave us a class on the squat, snatch, and clean. The class on Fun and Effective training programs by coaches Keats and Snideman was great too. We did a little circut with sand bags, kegs and medicine balls. I was winded by the end of that thing. All in all it was a whole lot of info in a very short period of time. By the way, Julianne is awsome and very generous. We’re off to dinner in a little bit.

ProteinPowda decided not to come out with us tonight so I just wanted to give him shit for that…

What a trip! The cast of characters is endless.

As noted, Dan John was truly the Mac Daddy last night. He had a girl or two under each arm, and was trying to pass the lesson on from the master to the many apprentices. He even went so far as to offer one free cock-block to each applicant for his Mac Daddy program.

He was trying to work the hookup for several young pups, but unfortunately the master needed more time with his apprentices. Some guy came so close, having a hot long conversation with a blonde-haired hottie. I won’t name names, but the poor F**king Bastard Guy couldn’t follow-through. And we all held such high hope.

But last night was just the practice run. Tonight will be time to bring The Game.

Nate was quite a trip. For a little guy, he sure is hungry. Nate can be summed up thus: “Man, I just ate, but DAMN I’m hungry again!”

Many other cool folks. Bastard turned out to be a pretty cool guy in spite of his lady problem. Bastard’s friend Derek was… tall. Jodgey was quite amusing. Kenny had quite a way with drunk chicks! DevilDog is a cool guy, and his snoring didn?t keep me up for more than an hour. We hope to have him meet a real live girl! Vroom is actually much more normal and less contemplative than you might expect. Protein Powda is pretty cool and very laid back. He didn’t bring Foopa which, I’m sure, disappointed everyone. Jillybop was looking great and lots of fun to chat with.

I wonder who I highly offended by missing?

Shugart was fun, though smaller than he looks in his picture. I haven?t had a chance to talk to Chad ?Hoss? Fabio Waterbury, hereby referred to as ?Habio?, but he had a great talk. Lonny Lowery is a geek with muscles. Very dangerous! Oh yes, and congratulations Dave “Bag O’ Loot” Barr on winning the big grand prize, ya bastard. I hope they threw a Gillette Mach 3 in there!

Thanks Charles, it?s been a blast!

WOW!!! Sounds like a blast. When and where will there be a next conference-gathering-thingie? I wish I could have made this one, but I am in my last 8 weeks of college, and things are very stressful, and I’m broke, so I couldn’t afford to make it. Once I have a real job, I plan to attend. -Starkdog

Back from Saturday night debauchery. while I try to figure out how the eff I am going to get to teh airport, I wanted to recap the rest of the bootcamp. First off, as I stated tonight, I want to make Dan John my spiritual guru. the dude exudes a level of pimpacity that Indians in the mountains tell folklore from one generation ot the next. And to see him speak. . . you will find yourself engrossed in whatever he has to say.
He had a couple very powerful take home points (to find out, you can buy the bootcamp dvds)
The other lectures, including Julianne’s rigged contest, where several presenters, T-Nation contribs, and family members of presenters won the booty. Just kidding about it being rigged. Lonnie was chock full of info on protein being a valid supplement for recovery and other highly scientifically supported purposes. Not that any one of us doubts that, it was nice to have it verified.
The came Chad Waterbury, who got into the nitty gritty of the neurological system. very enlightening.
My take home from the Q/A was to get sleep, lots of it. Nap if you have to, and as Lonnie put it, turn off the TV at night and just go to bed (a bad habit I have fallen in to).

Then to Kona for another night of binge drinking. Good thing Dan john was the only T-writer there, so we could order our full carb beer or Captain and Regular Cokes and not feel guilty. Debauchery tonight was limited, but there were quite a few more T-peeps out tonight, so it was more of a ‘get to know ya’ kind of night. Shelly and her HotAZZ were making an evening out of ranking on Nate Dogg and beating him at arm wrestling (a quote from Nate Dogg “You almost tore my rotator cuff off”). She also pig snort laughed from calling Nate gay and talking about his shiny head. Apparently, those two topics never get old. We introduced Dan John to the Boston Shocker, and BFG told me I was Goofy Tall. Oh, and Jillybop hit 7 pullups and Squatted 155. All in all, it was a great night and I look forward to next year, which supposedly, may have a new awesomized format. wink wink Jules, work that.

/End Late night rant

wee jusat got back form thea cona grill and wel are fuckked up!! Isst he aclhol gonna put me ing a ctabolic state?/?

Dd

Let’s clear some things up here. Since no one would take me someplace for breakfast (hint, hint! lol), I managed to devour 5 hard boiled eggs, 16oz. of yogurt, an apple, banana, apple juice and a Low-Carb Grow! shake for breakfast. Two hours later, I was starving again. Same with lunch. Same with dinner. I’m always hungry.

The seminar was awesome! The good thing was that much of the info wasn’t “new” so to speak, but it was more of a variation of stuff I’ve learned (except for the Z Health Presentation and Waterbury’s very in-depth neurological presentation). Definitely good stuff to help remind you that adding weight isn’t the only way to progress.

During the presentation, I had a chance to get up close and personal (too close and personal for some…hahah…You love me Baby BARR…I, mean, Candy BARR) with many of the T-Nation writers and forumites. I fondled them all. They liked it. HA!

Dinner was awesome at the Firebird Rocky Mountain Grill and was a good chance to see everyone again and enjoy some good food. Unfortunately, I’m hungry again. I haven’t slept more than three hours, and I have to catch the shuttle to the airport at 3:00 a.m. for my 5:30 a.m. flight back to Florida. I’m tired as hell.

Everyone is drunk around me, and even though I only drank water this weekend, I look and feel as drunk as them!!

Oh, and Hot AZ has nothing on me with the arm wrestling!!! I own you! YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE NATOR GATOR!!!

Unfortunately, Kona Grill wasn’t as happening tonight as it was on Friday. Very few hotties, and the ones there were with dudes. However, one girl totally eye-fucked me at the bar. I love Arizona.

So here we are, at the close of a kick-ass weekend. It was all good and then some. I wish I had brought a camera, but at least I’ll have the memories of knowing that I met and made many new friends. And it’s always nice to put faces/personalities to the names on the forum.

I had a blast and want to give a shoutout to everyone I met and had a chance to hang out with (Jodgey, Devildog, Need4speed, Hot AZ, Jillybop, Dan John, Bastard and friend, and many more). My boy Kenny was a trip and although he said he snored loudly, I still managed to get three hours of sleep on Friday.

Also, a big thanks to Julianne and Charles Staley. You guys kick ass!

I hope to come back again soon. The hotties at the mall are to die for!!! I’m coming back for sure.

Oh, and to clear up Snortin’ “Hot AZ” Shelley and the whole incident of her laughing about Nate and the word “gay” in the same sentence…the blonde-haired girl that eye-fucked me was with a gay dude who also gave me the look over.

Apparantly, that started a discussion about me and how I attract gay dudes…from which Shelley commented that maybe it was my bald shiny head and soon erupted into laughter and snorting with further discussion.

I can’t write anymore because I’m not very coherant. I can’t wait to sleep. Only 12 more hours to go!

For the record… here’s picture proof.

As everyone has already posted, the T-Nation crew that came to Staley’s bootcamp were incredible!! It was nice to actually see all of you in person. The seminars were great, the food and fun were… well, fun and Nate was a good sport all weekend long. Can’t wait to see everyone at the next event.

The seminar was great and I even received Free Grow! bars in my goodie bag! HAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA

I was lucky enough to receive a small sliver of a peanut butter one and while the brownie bars are good…the peanut butter ones literally taste like fudge. I’m about to order a box of them and some Spike

Out of all the presenters LL’s gave me the most to think about and I’m going to have to go back and read ALL of his articles (I believe I’ve read most).

Not so sure there was too much food this weekend. It was fun to watch the pack of protein starved
T-folk do our Sherman’s March on the Chinese Restaruant at the food court in the local mall. We crushed their supply of beef, chicken, and pork. And somewhere in Chandler AZ, (not to be confused with Hot AZ. . .) there are a couple little asian girls huddled in a corner still shuddering in fear. . . .

Yes, but Nate appologized, so hopefully with a little therapy they’ll get over it.

(Note: as we discussed, I will now only discuss myself in the Third Person).

Danny John had fun.
Danny John need sleep.
Danny John really had fun.

Danny John learned stuff, too, but mostly…Danny John had fun.

Now, as a guru…my rates will go up.

The MacDanny Group is forming up. All of the first 1000 signees get a $1000 gift certificate and a Grow! Bar.

Like any good prostitute, I showed up, did my thing, and was on my way.

Too bad I missed out on the “extracurricular” activities. But, a Monday morning exam is my current bitch - she rules all.

Wish I could’ve chatted more with DJ and the gang.

And don’t forget. . . one free cock block. Thank you Sensay.

Well I’m back in MD after a weekend of fun and learning. It’s so weird going from a hotel full of fit people to an airplane full of obese people (sucks when the fat chick stands up an puts her ass in your face…).

I’d have to say that I learned a lot from Dan John. He gave a great talk on “Training for the Busiest”, and training high school athletes (went hand in hand with “FUNdementals” talk by Henkin/Snideman). Then during lunch he gave a class on squat, snatch, and clean technique. I needed that!

The class by Lonnie Lowery was a little over my head…But I did learn a few interesting things. Apparently, weight training is almost as damaging to your body as skeletal trama (I’m lookin at my notes here and there’s a lot of numbers and stuff…) His take home message was basically that protein is good for us and timing and total intake do matter.

At this point, my brain was pretty fried by all of the numbers and charts…Then Chad Waterbury showed up. His talk went WAY over my head, but I bought his book so after I take a few more college classes I might understand a little more. Still it was a good presentation and I learned some stuff.

The round table was very informative. A big point that was made was that sleep defecits are real and we need to sleep more. Naps are good especially post workout.

I seriously think that this was the best $1000 I’ve spent in a long time. So much information. It was great getting to know a lot of trainers from around the country and listening to them all talk.

The after hours at the Kona Grill was a great time. It was like a “who’s who” of T-Nation. Bastard was a lot less of an ass-hole in real life than I expected. And who knew that 2 engineers (Bastard and Jodgey) could be such interesting individuals. JillyBop hung out with us and NateDogg and HotAZ went at it all night (2 shortest people in the place). N4S, I do not snore…At around 1am as we were all realizing that we had ignored the “importance of sleep”, Dan John noted that the bond that the group was building was far more important than the sleep that we were going to miss that night. Great point. Good times. Can’t wait for next year.

Thanks! No fluff, just complex stuff.
