At 16, what’s your training and nutrition plan to put on 25-40 pounds in 6-8 months?

Is it really necessary to get up to 275-290? Wouldn’t your height combined with being a solid 250 or 260 be a big enough advantage over the average 16-year old?

I’m just thinking long term. Bulking up that much probably isn’t the best idea in the long run.

P.S. - You seem to have hit the genetic jackpot. Kudos.

well, i do play highschool football, and am looking into going to college for it. its always and advantage to be big expecially when ur on the oline. my brother is a naturally large man at 6’6 350. and its expected that i should be about 6’3-6’5 by my senior year.

im just ball parking a good weight to be at for next year, expecially no that colleges will hopefully be looking at me. as far as the 25-40 pounds goes im looking into at least 55-65% to be muscle.

as far as my work out routine-

monday wendsday and friday uppers… Bench 5 set- 5,4,3,2,1
incline- same reps, jammer press and extension- 3x8 curls 3 sets 25, 20, 15 reps. i also do lats 3x10 tricept curls 5x 10, shoulder press and extension 3x 8, i do shoulder circut (10 pound weights in each hand) up and in, up and foward, up and out by 10 sets.

tues, and thursday lowers… squat 4x5, dead lift 3x5, hang cleans 3x5, power cleans 3x5, leg extension 3x10, leg press 3x10,leg curls 3x10, band work, and jump rope- 3 sets of 3 minutes straight.

nutrition- heavy on protein, egg whites, toast, chicken, fish, steak, lots of veggies (carrots, peas, broccoli etc…
) i do take protein shakes, along with vitamin B-12 for energy in the morning. i drink about 10-20 cups (12 fluid onces) of water a day about 3-6 cups of milk, NO SODA, ice tea (unsweatened) gatorade, vitamin water, and power aid.

but im just looking to stack a couple of supps, (fish oil, creatine, protein, and some kind of ZMA) or something but i wanted to get an idea as to what specificly to stack.

can some one explain what a BCAA is?

“Branch Chain Amino Acids”

Its a chain of the combination of Leucine, isoleucine and valine. The combination of these aminos make up a good portion ofl muscle in your body, and help with protein synthesis.

Basically if your looking for building muscle BCAAS are great, but they can be costly. If your diet is adequate you may not “need” to supplement, however, additional BCAAS are usually quite beneficial for anyone who can afford them as part of their daily supplements

thanks. is it like 1 pill containg all 3 amino acids or is it like 3 pills u have to buy seperatly?

Sounds like you’ve got a solid enough handle on the lifting and food angles. They could maybe use some tweaks, but nothing ginormous. More back work to counterbalance all the pressing would be a good idea, from an injury prevention standpoint.

Vitamin Water is pretty much on the same level as soda…unnecessary calories with no real health benefit. And unless you’re in the middle of a workout or just finishing a workout, Gatorade and Powerade are close to the same too. If you’re drinking them just throughout the day, toss a scoop of protein in there at least.

It’s all the BCAAs in one.

Also, give this article a read:

It explains how to set up different supplement stacks for different goals. I’d just avoid any test boosters like TRIBEX or Alpha Male. Regardless of your size, at your age it’s redundant and unnecessary. Actually, skip right down to the bottom. The “Adolescent Athlete Stack” should suit you just fine. You can add in BCAAs and ZMA, no prob.
