Today i did squats and felt this pain in my groin (if thats what its called) which caused me to cut my workout a little short. How do i strecth this fucker. Thanks.
First of all, stretching is probably not going to alleviate the problem… tightness in a muscle is not likely to cause a sharp pain during lifting. Secondly, are you sure it’s your groin muscle and not your hip joint?
Have you been squatting long? Are you doing full rock-bottom squats? You may have just tweaked something a little. This is common when people start full-squatting, the muscles are getting stretched and worked at the same time, and thats a lot for some to deal with. If the pain is not too bad I would just keep lifting on it, very light, even bodyweight only, for a few weeks if need be, but if its really painful you may want to consider therapy of some sort.
If it is your groin, then a simple stretch for that area is:
Sit on the floor
Place soles of feet together
With your elbows, gently push knees towards the floor.
You could also try squatting down, and extending one leg at a time out to the side (almost like a half split)
How much warming up did you do? Did you do a warm up set first?
I think it was because last night was the first time i squatted half way between ass to grass and paralel. Im trying to get my squats ass to grass. I also get the same pain/tightness when i skate (plays hockey). I think that streching for a little longer than i usually do should work.
