Ok, here’s the deal. I want to start competing equipped. I ordered some Titan briefs to get a feel for a suit(and because I don’t have a lot of money). I weigh 214 and the sizing chart suggested a 42, but those suckers weren’t goin on (I have helped other lifters suit up before so I know how to put a suit/briefs on).
So I sent them back and got a 46. They fit in my hip/glute area, but the leg holes were too small, so the crotch would not seat high enough. The legs actually were turning my legs blue…So the question here is do I try 48 so they fit my legs but are a little loose everywhere else, or do I fork over extra money to get something custom?

First of all, if you decide to compete you will have to buy a suit so just get a suit and use it straps down. I know you feel cash strapped but do the math. Plus, straps up are an entirely different animal in these suits.
Additionally, how are you putting it on? Are you using suit slippers? A 48 is a big suit for someone 214. I can’t imagine you can’t get a 46 seated. What material is it?
The bottom line is suits and briefs are easy to alter so at the end of the day the best advice is get something you can live with and alter it to fit. Most of the time custom stuff is a crapshoot, as well.
I would be surprised if you couldn’t make a 46 work.

The briefs are Dual Quad Boxer Briefs NGX+. I don’t have slippers, but I was wearing UnderArmour Long boxer briefs, a recommendation from Mark Bell. The problem was just that the leg holes literally would not move any higher. I trust your knowledge here from your other posts, so do you think I should send the briefs back and get a Centurion or just keep them and stretch the legs? Thanks for the help
Wearing UA shorts is fucking shit. It doens’t work. At all. I tried it, and it sucked. Put on slippers and got my brand new 42 suit seated without any trouble (I was around 220 at the time, with legs over 27 inches at their biggest)
The first time I put my new 42 on took abotu 45 mins. Second time was around half an hour. Once you get it on most of the way, keep your slippers on and do some reps to get it fully seated.
Also, womens tights might work in place of slippers. Or big garbage bags.
I see no reason why you shouldn’t be able to fit in a 42 or 44.
My training suit at 210 was a 42 NXG super and my current suit at a training weight of 205 is a 40 NXG custom. I perfer to slide mine on without the help of slippers, but you may perfer otherwise. Unless you’ve got the legs of Wade Hooper I see no reason why you couldn’t get a 42 on with a little work.
I appreciate all the input from you guys! I DEFINITELY cannot fit in a 42. I just physically could not get the damn legs higher than just above the knee. I think I will stick with the 46 for now…but on the subject of suit/briefs, should I keep the briefs and save money, or just send them back and pay the extra for a Centurion?

I train with a 220 who was about your weight and couldn’t come close to a 42 as well b/c of the legs. We got him in a 44 and then altered the hips and straps. Worked great.
My recommendation would be to send it back and get the Centy. In particular if you have aspirations of competing. A suit is legal in all feds, briefs are not.
Aditionally, the problem with using the UA boxers is they may help you seat the suit (I have never even seen them so couldn’t say) but you definitely don’t want them on after it is seated b/c you don’t want the suit to be siting on something that allows it to slide around.
Slippers last a long time. Order a pair when you get a chance. In the meantime you can tear the bottom out of some plastic shopping bags and use them handles down. This is kind of a PITA but works in a pinch.
Similar to the boxer thing, we don’t use powder, either.
I can’t say for sure (never actually tried it) but I don’t think women’s tights would work nearly as well as your other options. They aren’t all that slippery and I suspect that you would rip them up pretty quickly.
I can say from experience, under armor type shorts under briefs = bad. And while I certainly wouldn’t argue with apwsearch, for me, a little baby powder goes a long way, especially when 90 degrees.

I was thinking as I posted the powder thing that in the event a lifter asked me to put some version of a blast shirt on them, depending on how tight it was and how beat up my hands and knuckles were at the time I might be looking around for some.
We really haven’t used powder for years once the new generation stuff came out.

Thanks a ton! I’ve already competed raw, but I know gear is a whole other deal. I appreciate your help.
