Squat Rack Curls: Who's Guilty?

i know there is a thread about how you all hate seeing this, but who is acually guilty of commiting this crime?

I for one, am guilty. i enjoy sqaut rack curls, they are a convienient way to curl.

i use them for reverse flat bar curls.

Same here. It’s a convenience thing, and if someone is squatting, I have never asked how many more sets they had so I could begin my squat rack curls.

When I am working arms, I even write “squat rack curls” on my log as opposed to barbell curls. Just amusing myself.

Does doing it in the power rack count?

I train at home, but even I feel a little dirty when I do it. That’s probably why I do it.

I only consider it a crime if people are waiting for the squat rack to do actual squats.

In my gym, I can literally count 5 members who actually squat in the power rack. Lots use the smith machine.

I curl in there all the time. Its really the only place with an accessible straight bar in my whole gym.

totally different siutation then 3 college guys grabbing each other’s asses, screamiong, being stupid. And SRCing nicks for an hour.

u guyz r ghey.

Never in the squat rack, I’ve done it on the bench before though.

Only if it’s 135lbs or more!

So no, no I havent :frowning:

Love your avater Pimpbot, one of the all time great movies.

Anyways back to the point of the thread.I curl in the squat rack every arm session i do and i love it.No one else uses the squat rack plus being 6’4 i dont really want to bend down and pick up a heavy ass bar with my back problems.Lazy u may say? Who cares ,my back feels fine.

Ive seen far worse things in the gym that people doing squat rack curls.Im yet to have anybody come up and say anything to me about curling in the squat rack.

I curl on the deadlift platform, NEVER busy since nobody understands its purpose.

The quarter squat / curling / pilates / yoga / stretching / meditation / wanking rack is usually occupied…

Sometimes, I not only curl in the squat rack but I scream “COME GET SOME, BITCHES!” and “YOU SEE THESE GUNS, BITCHES?!” and always “YEAAAHH, BITCHES!”.

Has there been a ‘Does anyone masturbate in the squat rack?’ thread yet?

Nope. But sometimes I use the bench.

It’s a convenience thing.

Don’t have a squat rack, but I do it in my cage all the time.

I have, but there’s not a whole lot of spare barbells lying around except for the benches, and those sure has hell get a lot more attention than the power rack.

I actually got kicked out of a gym for explaining what a squat rack was to a guy and asking him to let the people waiting to squat use it instead of him doing curls. He was a trainer. I got to get a new gym. I was asked to leave a couple weeks ago for telling someone to “rerack thier shit”.

Can we be friends?

I’ve pointed out several different places for people to curl while I wait for one of two squat racks to open. The teenage boys generally don’t take too well to a ‘girl’ telling them what to do with weights.

I curled in the squat rack yesterday. No one was using it, and it was the only place that seemed okay to do straight bar curls without killing anyone.

Then this Asian kid, who had his “12 week muslce building routine” print out, gave me a dirty look. Maybe he was going to take his DBs into there and do something? Or maybe I just stood in front of him so he couldn’t see himself in the mirror. Oops. I’ll file that under my list of people I’ve offended that I’ll never see again.

I think this is a common occurrence and it’s my biggest piss off ever. On Tuesday, while doing squats (in the squat rack - go figure), I was asked to free it up so that the kids (friends of the employee working that night) could do curls and OH presses. They could not even do one rep without a spot. It wasn’t even a spot but more like two guys lifting the same damn bar.

If nobody is using it, fine, do whatever but if there’s someone waiting to use it for what it’s actually intended for, it’s a bit of an asshat move to not let them.

I did in HS and college, not anymore though

Guilty, with an attitude.
