Haha, that’s great.
Today there was this guy in the gym. He’s a regular. Always taking up the squat rack. First he does these squats with one leg on a bench, then some OHP. Then he does some crossfit crap where he’s doing a squat/OHP in one motion then pullups. This goes on for what seems like forever. At the end he’s doing like two pullups at a time and panting like a frickin moron. When he’s done he goes over to the water cooler and nearly falls into the wall.
Yeah, it was me.

I was reading this the whole time getting more and more pissed off.
Good finish.
Not quite SRC, but still silly. At least he’s doing it in rhythm…

Nice ankle support on those unlaced high-tops. ![]()
Bump
Two skinny/ fat guys loading up the leg press with all the 45’s it could fit on the bar. 5 inches ROM.
Awesome!
New trainer at my gym. Nice enough guy. Just getting into this stuff so I am constantly bombarding him with new information.
He has about 3 clients right now, and out of the corner of my eye I see him spotting one of his clients while he does some decline BB presses. With the client struggling to get the last couple of reps, new trainer says, “It’s all you bro.”
Seems we have to have another talk.
i got told by a trainer monday night that doing any kind of unilateral DB work is unhealty bc it develops imbalances, and that using a BB is always better. i was doing 1 arm DB benchpress and 1 arm DB standing military press.

This is sound advice. It definitely causes imbalances.
Wait, you are switching and doing the other arm too? nvmd…

Fixed.
Yesterday morning, I began walking to the water fountain and noticed a long cord at head level blocking my way.
Some old guy had decided to extend the cable to its full length (around 5-6 feet-ish), which directly blocked an often used path in the gym. He had connected the cable to something wrapped around his forehead and placed a towel over his head so he couldn’t see anything. The “exercise” he was doing was some sort of “body tilt at the hip” which he may have thought was working his neck. I have no idea why he needed the extra feet of cable to do this or why he chose to extend the cable directly through an often used path, nor why he decided to cover his face so he couldn’t see anything. If I wouldn’t have been paying attention or had I not been wearing my glasses (I often take them off at the gym), I might have ran into the cord and broken his neck. 'Course, maybe that’s what he was going for… so he could sue…
I found this on another website, but it sort of goes with the theme:
“I’m a bartender and was talking with a woman at my bar the other night. She told me she was excited because she had just purchased new shape up sneakers and couldn’t wait to get toned up. What truly excited her she told me was that she was going to get extra toned up in no time because she was going to wear the sneakers to bed while she slept. She thinks shape ups work simply by having them on her feet.

Today at the Y in my home town (back home on thanksgiving break), I was deadlifing.
I was at around 225 (threw out my back and am still rehabbing) for reps and a guy (middle aged, 40’s, reasonably fit) comes over and yells at me because apparently I was putting the weight down too hard. (I was doing a typical deadlift negative, fast but under control. I wasn’t bouncing to the next rep though).
I move up to 275 and really do try to make the reps slightly less loud, he comes over and accuses me of trying to piss him off and tells me I have to leave because he’s a trainer at the gym. I found a manager, the manager tells me to quiet down but I can still stay. Big waste of my time.

If someone yelled at me for getting shit done, I’d yell back.
I wonder why didn’t you told him to stfu.

I really wanted to, but over my christmas break this Y will likely be the only place I have available to lift at, so If I got kicked out for good I’d be out of training for 2-3 weeks of late dec./early jan.
Anybody else ever patiently watched someone do 1/4 squats with 225 and then leave the weights on the bar. Then proceed to walk around the gym doing every other thing there is to do and then when they come back 10 minutes later to get their water bottle they left and looking at me doing squats like I did something wrong. It’s like a disease in my gym nobody puts their weights up or if they do they’re in some cluster fuck arrangement that they might as well be on the floor or something. I swear the four benches perpetually are loaded with weights yet there is hardly ever anybody on them.
