Squat Rack Curls Quatro

Watched a kid getting himself SUPER psyched up before a set…basically looking like I do before I do a 1RM deadlift or front squat…except he’s got 115 on a bar on the ground, and proceeds to do some sloppy-ass rounded-spine bb rows with it. I lol’d.

Saw SRCers for the first time in my college gym. It was just as I was leaving at the end of my session. Of course, it had to be someone in a cutoff (I’ll admit I wear them too), but he was all of 115lbs soaking wet, had in fake diamond earings, and had on a backwards “50 cap” or whatever they’re called.

i had to train at a this new gym in my area the other day(my gym was down for electrical work)
pretty crappy gym or should i say life style center… they didnt even have one real olympic bar. well what i saw was one dude waiting for the only squat rack in the place… while the guy using the squat rack was well using it for DIPS and EZ curls, not even using the fake midget O bar. what madness is this!

Haha have you been to the Green Point VA yet? Apparently they have Hammer Strength, power cages/racks and babes galore!

Since I’ve gained more experience at the gym I’m kind of a prick when I spot people now. I just stand there and won’t touch the bar and act completely disinterested unless they ask for help or are in immediate danger of hurting themselves.

Not many people ask me to spot them anymore.

Today at the gym I was wearing a bodybuilding.com shirt (sorry, T-Nation…I like free shirts). Anyhow, this tall, skinny thing stops and asks if I bodybuild. He’s immediately on my good side just for asking that. I tell him that I’m training for my first figure competition. He asks, “Is that like bodybuilding?” I explain that it’s a feminine sub-set of bodybuilding that doesn’t focus on muscle size, striations, blah blah blah. He’s completely confused (though I thought I was pretty succinct), and continues asking me if it’s bodybuilding. In the end he says, “Well, I’m a trainer here and I’m looking for more clients who do that. I’d love to train you.” Um…but 2 minutes ago, you had never heard of Figure competitions. And even after I explained it in every way possible, you still don’t understand, but you want to train me?

Later I saw him doing a tri-set with jumping rope, leg extensions, and partial deadlifts (obviously we’re using the term loosely here) on a smith machine. Figures…(weak pun intended).

Hit him with a 45lb plate.

Thursday I was doing squats and apparently I disrupted two different sets of guys from doing SRC’s. While I was doing my sets I saw them walk over to the rack area looking for an open rack, look at me, and I could see on their face they had the same look of depression that I do when I see them doing SRC’s when I want to actually use the rack for sqauts, instead they proceeded to do Smith machine curls (first time I had ever seen this). I wanted to ask them WTF they were doing but instead just laughed to myself.

Yeah.

SHUT THE FUCK UP!

I’ve now read 10 threads in 10 minutes that you posted your link in.

I saw one of my friends, one of the lankiest guys on the football team, with his scrawny nerdy roommate at the gym today. They were benching with bad form. The football guy was “benching” 185 lbs, going half way down and humping to get the bar up. His roommate was “spotting” him while looking like he’s about to shit his pants.

The roommate get onto the bench with only the bar and it immediately crashes down to his chest. Football friend insists that he adds a 10 on both sides. The roommate struggles with a twisting motion every rep while shivering and shaking his arms. It was terrible.
I tried to inform of them on good form, but they ignored it. My powerlifter friend who I was working out with just laughed at them and went back to his 350lb benching.

Another guy at the gym seriously puzzles me. He’s huge and has a badass scar on his face. However, he only does 1/4 squats with 405, yet he also does deep full snatches with around 180.

Me. Squat Rack Curling. YES.

Actually I would say that’s about the forum equivilant of doing a SRC so that would be perfectly on topic. . .

Saw another 5 9 60 kg fucker taking up a bench doing seated one arm tricep extensions with a 6kg db.I just have to roll my eyes because i see this so fucking much in my gym,the place is overflowing with the little bastards.

At the gym I go to, 90% of the time that the squat racks are used it’s for a good reason (Squats, Deads, Olympic Lifts, Military Presses, Rack Pulls) so I always feel I’m missing out with these threads.

Yesterday I walk in and a see a guy move an adjustable bench into the squat rack, set it to 45 degrees, and then sit on it and do dumbbell curls, with 8kgs (17.8lbs), while sitting bolt upright - after going out of his way to adjust the bench he didn’t even sit back against it. There were plenty of empty benches and space, so I thought he might be super setting or something, and he was - dumbbell shoulder press and dumbbell curls.

There’s a middle-aged woman that comes in about once every 2-3 months. She cranks the treadmill up to the highest incline, then puts it on about 4-5mph, hangs on for dear life to the handles, then “walks”. It’s the scariest thing I have ever seen. It actually looks like she’s hooked into some futuristic torture device and is running for her life.

Me and a couple other guys there have all made a pact that when she finally falls off of it and slams into the equipment behind her, we’re not helping her (besides calling her an ambulance). No support for jackassery.

^^ That happens a lot and I mean A LOT at my gym. Put the treadmill at an incline then hang on and since it’s mildly unnatural to hold on while walking they move all herky-jerky.

I’ve seen people fall off treadmills here about 6 or 7 times. Last one was a guy on Saturday in front o f me, he tried skipping off before the belt totally stopped and he fell sideways. Jeeeesus!

This chick is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Her face looks like she’s experiencing sheer terror, and she does it for like 30 min at a clip. I don’t know what part of “fitness” that is, but I’ll stick with my weights.

There used to be a really skinny high school kid that would come in and put the elliptical on it’s easiest setting, then go as fast as he fucking could. It sounded awful and everyone in the gym would have to turn and see what the hell was going on. He was another “Not helping when he gets hurt” person.

^ I’ve seen that too in the Spinning classes. Not that i join them but I can see it from the weight area ( I do use those bikes by myself…they’re great)
Anyway, you’ll get that one cardio-bunny in the front and center that you can tell has the bike at a low resistance and spins like Hell to look like , well I guess you’d call it “Spin Class Teacher’s Pet”
