I should’ve posted this here instead of my log:
some random guy stacked 45# plates in the middle of the gym floor, between two smith machines, a HS shoulder press and a flat bench. he stacked maybe a dozen or so on top of each other, then hoisted a decline bench on top. then he got on it and started doing random ab exercises with a 25# plate and an 8# medicine ball…
I have the biggest urge to start “Sparta Kicking” people when they do dumb shit. The Sparta kick would be that scene from 300 when he kicks the dude in the pit. Anyway, people who do dumb shit should get sparta kick, this is not limited to the gym. For example, people who pass you when its a fucking snow storm and then are shocked when their car is in a ditch. The tow truck driver by law should sparta kick this individual and then proceed to remove the car. In the example that fr0IVIan has given fr0IVIan should have right to wait for this person to finish their dumbass routine and then BOOM! Sparta kick! the dude right in the chest.
it wouldve made my day if the bench fell off the stack of plates or if the stack fell apart while he was doing ab rotations
I should’ve asked him why he did that. he’s a regular (unfortunately) so I’ll see if I can ask him the next time I see him

LOL the funny thing is, I have also been having the same urge to sparta kick people, except in the FACE
There’s this one guy in my school gym, who’s not a student, but is staff at my school (i think he works in the food court). He takes all the 45 pound plated to do shrugs. He’s a picky bastard too!! He only uses metal plates. Ends up taking like 12 for the bar and 3 just to stand on while he’s in the squat rack. Worst part about it, bar moves about 1 cm when he shrugs. To make it even more worse, I was lifting by him once. He would talk to himself, about how EVERYONE else in the gym is weak and how everyone else has shitty form. He’d literally point at people and say to himself "see that man there, that boy weak. all these kids weak. they soft, they aint got no disipline. After doing shrugs he then does bicep curls. Does the same shit every time he’s there.

This man needs to be sparta kicked and then tasered…

I might Sparta kick him depending on his answer
… fuck that, there’s no good reason to be doing decline ab work SIX FEET in the air

Let’s all have a slow clap for this mans first post in 6 years.

I know, wtf? Professional lurker.
In the true, original spirit of SRCing, this morning I witnessed a guy curling I think 65 lbs int he power rack…and supersetting curls with tricep kickbacks, also, of course, in the power rack. Holy shit dude.
True, but I know an asshole when I see one. Been lifting since 1963.
Im at the gym on sat and this 17ish yr old kid is doing dips on the assisted dip/pullup thingy.hes got the stack loaded so hes maybe dipping a quarter of his bodyweight.he crashes his head into the pullup bar TWICE,then on the 3rd rep tucks his head in and tries to somehow lean under the chin bar at the top of the movement;at this point he’s looking like quasimodo.he manages a couple of reps then gets off puffing like hes squatted a ton.I walk over to the machine and push back the bar so on the next set hes not cracking his head.i turn and tell him the bar folds back so you dont hit yr head.Yeh i know he replies???Ah it was great being a teenager and knowing everything…
Always enjoyed these threads. Stupid shit I have seen recently :

Numerous guys using the plate-loaded calf raise as a leg press!? It looks stupid as hell and saying something is always tempting, but instead, a look of disbelief. Guess that explains the real reason I see it left with 5pps or more on it as I’m not seeing many pairs of 18"+ calves around… I would estimate the fact 90% of people using it as an actual calf raise use “tendon bounce” as the primarly hypertrophy technique further confounds the problem…

Ok… going to try and explain this exercise. Reverse fixed-bar clean followed by push press position front squat followed by reverse overhead press. Is this real life?
Overall its a decent atmosphere where I train though, just a lot of the typical “cripple-deadlift” which I find particularly hard to watch and plenty of quarter squatting.
Almost an anti SRC too: saw someone doing a Turkish get up the other day with serious weight… whilst I doubt I’ll ever do them myself, there was something almost profound about it being done in the midst of the quarter-squat-racks and cripple platforms.
Yesterday saw a guy standing on one foot. His back foot was raised behind in the air (as it doing a benchless 1-legged squat). Then while holding this, proceeds to do 2-armed DB bicep curls… I have absolutely no idea what the point of this is. I caught the eye of some old man who stared at this guy and just shook his head

(serious) old guys in gyms are awesome. love the ‘stupid youngster’ looks they give
There’s a guy in my gym that does numerous exercises standing on one leg. I call him the flamingo…
Came in for leg day, hoping to get the rack (we only have 1, but 3 smith machines). I find 2 guys using the rack for AMRAP curls with zero weight on the bar. They also mixed in some bent over rows (just the bar), overhead press (also just the bar). None of this required a rack. I can understand if they were new guys but they were pretty developed, telling me they had been in a gym before.
I started using the smith machine for squats with the hope that they would be done by the time I finished warming up. Nope. 20 or 30 minutes later, still doing their little circuit with just the bar.
It wasn?t too bad because the smith hit my legs a little differently than I normally get. But God, that?s just an unnatural way to do squats.
tell them to fucking move!

Saw a few idiots at my gym doing that shit. Apparently it’s some p90x2 functional training nonsense. (around 1:05 for that specific exercise)

Defiantly.
