there is a HUUUUGELY fat guy at my gym that gets there about 6 in the morning and gets on the recumbant bike and pedals juuuuuuust so it registers on the machine to turn on. he keeps going at this pace for about 30 minutes, watching the 46 inch TV dead in front of him, sometimes reading his novel. after he is done, he does some 5lb DB curls, BB only OH presses, and lat pulldowns.
i actually feel sorry for this guy. i dont think his trainer (if he did hire one) cared anything about him or the routine he gave him. he looks like he is in constant pain during his workouts, moves extremely slow while walking around, and lifts extremely slow as wellā¦

Then fucking help him. Heās obviously showing the desire to get fit, so point him in the right direction.

I was at the gym on Christmas Eve and some emo fag came in with his ass-pirate buddy. They headed straight for the squat rack and this dumbfuck puts 25s on each end, unracks the weight and then realizes the pins are too high for him.
So rather than re-rack the bar, strip the weight and then readjust the pins, he tries to keep the bar on his back with one arm while he moves the pin with the other. He didnāt have any collars on the bar and ended up tilting the bar so far one of the plates slid off and landed on this hot chickās foot who was deadlifting without shoes. She fucking flipped out, probably broke her foot, and started crying.
This emo fucker just looks at her, says sorry then just stands there while his buddy puts the weight back on the bar for him so he doesnāt have to re-rack it. Then he does a squat (a legit deep squat to give him some credit) and comes up pretty fast and BAM! hits the pins, staggers backward and falls down, dropping the weight off his back, all while this poor chick next to him is going ballistic. I have now seen it all.[/quote]
Now this is fracking hilarious! I have a similar story but it involves power bands. This guy at our gym was always trying whatever new training styles he observed from the gym, which I suspect is okay, save for when he follows you around the gym and does the exact exercises your doing. At any rate, heās at the power rack doing squats with the power bands and plates that he must have observed my training partner and I doing earlier.
He struggles through a couple sets and then racks the bar. He pulls off the band on one side, and then slips the plate off as well. The bar slingshots up, hits him in the chin and all the plates and bar crash to the floor. Luckily no one was around him to get hurt.
Older guy watches younger guy doing weighted dips. Younger guy finishes, older guy grabs the belt and straps on 35lbs maybe. Goes to the assisted dip machine and uses more than 35lbs of assistantce⦠that makes sense
Iām studying abroad in Prague now and the gyms here are an absolute gold mineeee of entertainment. Guy grabs weightlifting belt, straps it on, and proceeds to preacher curl a solid 45-50lbs. Oh he must have just put the belt on and is going to do some powerlifting. No. Hangs up belt. End of workout.

If you really cared youād fly down and help him.
I think using the recumbent stationary bike is sending a clear signal to everyone, including yourself, that you donāt really want to work hard at all.
Today I saw a guy spotting another guy on military presses. The spotter was standing awfully closeā¦
Oh, but the main thing is, I was benching today, warming up, so I had 185 on the bar, collars on, went to get water, so I see this guy who annoys me in my comp sci class (though Iām not sure if he recognizes me/hates me as well, but whatever), so the first thing he does is come in and head straight towards my bar and grabs at the collar. I glare at him and he goes, āOH was that YOUR bar?ā >.> I swear⦠doesnāt collars on (my gym enforces it) usually signify that the bar is taken? But anyways, then when I was doing DB military presses, I swear he was staring/glaring at me.
Oh GOODIE! I had my first encounter with MMA guy yesterday. Guy comes up to me and goes āI donāt understand why you want to get horribly bulky. I know friends who can take out big slow bodybuildersā pretends to kick at my shin ālike that. Anything weighing over 50kilos (110pounds) will slow you downā
The fact that he feels the need to tell me this is a good sign Iām progressing

MMA is really tough and impressive. BUT that being said, big, strong āslowā guys are way better than the little fellaās.
on my gun run day, i was enjoying some hammer curls, and yet another old man came up to me and told me i better put them down and get lighter ones, so i dont get big bulky muscle.

So iām training in my gym in Dublin last year when the New Zealand Rugby team are in town, and they sent some of their players to our gym for an afternoon session (5 or 6 of them, big heavy Maori guys.)Thereās 6 benches together in the centre of a large weight room,iām on one,and a few of the NZ guys take over another 2.Everyone in the gym is watching them, when all of a sudden a 17yr old who looks like heās never lifted in his life gets stuck under his bench press (around 100lb???)!!!
One of the All Blacks walks over and says "Need a hand bro???" before pulling the bar off him with one hand and chuckling.Everyone in the gym is staring and laughing...the poor dude was purple with shame,he just left!
