Shortly I’m going to be back in the gym rehabbing a torn bicep. I expect I’ll be doing quite a few things left side only, and if there were muscle spasm issues i could see some massaging happening too.

Not saying that’s what was going on but I’m sure if anyone else at my gym read t-mag I might end up in this thread for some of the stuff I’m sure I’ll be doing.[/quote]

I thought that at first, but he was doing db curls with both sides, ez bar curls, and tricep pushdowns with no problem. He did the overhead extensions in between ez bar curls and db curls.

i saw this guy doing these strange bicep excercises on a seated calf machine.

what was he thinking?

LOL, yeah he was was HUGE and had a T-Nation shirt, what a clown!!!

Are you talking about CT?

A kid who was doing bicep curls (out of a squat rack at least), between sets lifted up his shirt, looked at his (non-existent) abs in the mirror, smiled and nodded his head saying “Yesssss.” Aside from general oddness I can’t figure out why he was looking at his abs during bicep curls…

Also 5 guys benching beside me: “How much does the bar weigh?” “75 pounds.”

I am. lol, its a joke. kind of shows you can’ judge a movement by the person doing it.
if a fat dude was doing it last week you’d post it here
CT does it now, and 100 guys from T-Nation are doing it this week

LOL

Two twig impersonators on the leg press, 4 plates per side, knees fully wrapped, the sled may have move 3 inches. Not that I needed to use the piece of equipment, but they were on it for a solid half hour taking 5 minutes between sets of 8 with the grunts starting at about the 4th rep.

the hardest 3 inches of their lives!

Thought this would be the best thread for this question:

Here’s what happened.

The gym was crowded as I walked up to do cable pull downs and a trainer is standing there next to his client who’s at a different cable lat pull down station.

Me: Are you using this (the open cable station)
Trainer: Yeah, we’re going back and forth
Me: So you’re occupying two different stations at the same time?
Trainer: We’ll be done real soon.
Me: Never mind.

Who’s in breach of gym unwritten etiquette?

If they only had one set left then I would accept that, if not, I feel people doing circuits need to yield to others.

Supersets and circuits usually leave enough time for someone to work in. They should have offered to share, that’s what I do every time. At worst I have to wait an extra 10 seconds.

That’s what I thought. This was the same trainer that had the same client doint curls in the squat rack.

He was. If I have a client circuit training I set up in an appropriate area. If they are supersetting, I give priority to someone else if they need the equipment and I’ll just give my trainee an alternate. And who the fuck says “real soon”? Give me a number of sets or something. I like these situations when training someone, though, because it allows for a brief introduction to gym etiquette. There should be a class or some shit for every new member. And if you fail… NO GYM FOR YOU(grab membership card and point to the door). COME BACK-ONE YEAR.

Well i walk up to the squatrack to find someone squatting with the bar and 1 2.5 lb plate on each side WITH the clips on it… Curls in the squat rack

so, the only squat rack at the gym is occupied by a skinny kid doing WRIST CURLS with the bar

oh he was squatting that heavy load^^

Nice Seinfeld reference. Soup Nazi!

Why do skinny people LOVE wrist curls? Can’t their time be better spent doing something else. Every single college kid at my gym does them.

The girls track team at my college trains the same time as me. I swear to god, one of the skinny female runners was doing wrist curls. I know it wasn’t her idea because she was following a sheet given to her by the team trainer.

I’ll play the devil’s advocate here a bit.

In my particular case, doing wrist curls for a week or two ONCE IN A WHILE has helped me with some problems I’ve been having with my left wrist for the last couple of years. So some people might be doing them for that reason, even if they’re skinny.

I doubt the entire running team would need them, though…
