Squat Rack Curls 2011

More of a WTF LOL moment:

Work out. Shower. Get out of the shower and walk back to my locker. On the way, I see a guy using the 2 hairdryers my gym has to dry his BALLS. One hairdryer in each hand.

He notices I’m looking and politely asks me: Do you need to use one?

I just LOL’ed.

HAHAHA just made my day

Guy at my gym just started with a personal trainer. Seen him around a few times but I guess the trainer has gotten him to really “dig deep & let it all out” in all his exercises because he has gotten really vocal. I MEAN REALLY VOCAL.

Last night the trainer had him doing a full body circuit so between the chest flyes, front squats, standing shoulder presses, etc. the gym was entertained by the intermittent grunting & screaming of this guy.

Sounded like a pirate or a maybe he was being prison raped by a pirate? Next time I need to bring my iPod

there was a guy who was shrieking in my gym doing dumbbell shoulder shrugs…not a worthy movement for vocals

1 - Skinny geek in the squat cage doing upright rows…with straps…mixed grip…leaning severely to his left…3" ROM.

2 - Reasonably athletic guy doing cleans, but he’s using the bar from one of the bench presses. Between sets he puts the bar on the bench. Silly little dance he was doing trying to keep the weight balanced in between sets when he was adding weight.

Theres this trainer at my gym who has 3 guys that pay him to all “train” together. 2 of which are a dad and his kid (the kids like 30 tho)

Usually they are not there when I am but the a couple of times I’ve seen them. It seems they just pick random pressing and curling movements and challenge each other.

This past time they were benching and DB pressing. One guy would pick a weight and do a few, and then they all start talking and laughing before the next guy trys and beats those reps. There is literally no quality to their form or rhythm to their training. I wan’t to stab my eyes out everytime I look at these dicks jeering at each other.

This whole time, the trainer guy they are with just watches as they press horrifically. I can’t believe they pay him for this.

Also lots of assisted bench.

Ok so i was at the gym today and long story short a 9 year old, and when i say 9 yr old i dont mean a 140lb 20 yr old who looks like a 9 yr old i literally mean a 9 year old tried to take a bench off me while i was doing dumbell rows.

Granted i took the bench off him in the first place for playing around with his 2 other 9 yr old friends.

when he tried i gave him a look that said, ‘’ i will put you on a sammich and eat you’'.

he walked off and brought his dad back with him, who looked at me rowing 140lbs, dripping with sweat and a face and started to shout at his kid and dragged him off. The little shit shouldn’t be in the gym in the first place for safety reasons.

i do live in Egypt tho.

After this i walk over the squat rack and it’s been used as a jacket and bag stand. WTF!!!
off topic, but where do you train?
I train in Cairo, Egypt.

I was at my friendly neighborhood Gold’s the other day and there was this newb squatting in the Smith Machine…after banging out 1/4 reps with like 190, he began to unrack the weight…

Now when I say 190, he had on each side a 45, two 10s, a 5, and a 2.5…so quite a few plates on each side…he unloaded them evenly…2.5 left side, 2.5 right side, 5 left side, 5 right side…he didn’t even take off two plates on the same side…it was funny to watch him walk from side to side removing plates on a stationary bar…

Damn, i hate high rep work…anything more than 3 is just “cardio”…

i’ve done that before, it’s doing what you need to do.
Provided you could put it on the floor but sometimes it’s just more convenient to have it a big higher up (not that big of a deal)
but meh at least it’s cleans right

Maybe he was afraid the machine would tip over if he took it all off one side lol.

Sounds like someone’s jealous because they didn’t get an invite to join the fun.

last time i went for a new 1rm on the bench, i wisely called a friend for a spot. i unracked it myself, down and up to my sticking point, then started to push through it. to my horror, my friend (who is the type of guy you spot on bench to get some upright rows in) pulls up a bit on the bar to relieve some of the weight. Now i was so pysched for the lift and now pissed off at him too, i told him to back the fuck up and i brought the bar back down to the sticking point and pressed it back up

This happened a while ago and is probably more entertaining for me than anything else. I was doing deadlifts and had the bar loaded to about 195 and was resting between sets. I see a guy I used to be friends with who I’d never seen at the gym before. We used to hang out all the time and party together almost every weekend. He’d always been a bit of a douchebag but I didn’t care until he said some really cruel things to me in front of a bunch of people and I never really talked to him again.

In any case, I say hi to him and try to be friendly. He asks me if he can work in with me since all the racks are taken. He walks up to the bar and tries to lift it. It gets about 2 inches off the floor and that’s all he can do. It slams back down and he looks up at me with this ‘oh shit’ look on his face and I can’t help it…I laugh at him.

A rack opens beside me and he takes it, loading the bar to 155 and does deadlifts with the worst form I’ve ever seen. Completely rounded back, hardly using his legs, and not even getting the bar down to the ground in between reps. I ask him if he wants help. I teach him how to deadlift. I felt redeemed.

I think I just shed a tear…That is a champion move

I do the same thing. Kind of a superstition I guess. (I’m not talking about Smith machine quarter squats, the way he unracks the weight)

Last night I saw this idiot about to do some sandbag carries. Well the sandbag is an Army surplus duffel with smaller sandbags inside it, when he went to clean the bag up to his chest the bottom swung around and hit him right in the nuts. Needless to say, he didn’t get very far with his carry.

Okay, it was me.

Saw a bloke curling in the squat rack with a EZ bar, which made me laugh.
Then he banged his head on the oly bar left up there for squatting, I nearly wet myself.

I saw a guy load up the squat bar with all the 10 lb plates he could find.
I think he was thinking that more plates = awesome.

I also became aware that I, apparently, somehow, I seem to have issued a challenge to people at my gym. And the fun thing is that I can perfectly understand the language people are speaking over here, so I get to hear things like “That fucking Russian is doing more pull-ups than we do, fuck him”. Great to hear that, cracks me up.

One of the exercises I was doing as part of my workout were truckdrivers, within 5 mins of me doing them every asshole in the gym was doing them. One “muay thai” fighter doubled my weight and did it with the worst form ever and the range of motion that made it the equivalent of humping the bar sideways.

What are truckdrivers?
