What the hell is water law? Water has laws?

In desert areas, where water isn’t adjacent to every property, you generally only have the right to use water if you or your predecessor was among the first to use whatever water source. This generally only impacts states, farmers, and Local governments. The combination of science, physics, and legal shit (e.g. Rights of american Indian tribes over others, agreements to replace water taken from one place with water from another) is a super fun clusterfuck.

I clerked for OK’s water administrative agency, took the top score in my law school’s water course, and have had an article on water published in a law review.

I’m friendly with the #2 person at the state office, and my dad used to work with her husband, but still no guarantees. I’m losing sleep over this position. Argh. If I don’t get it or something soon I will make coach hire me as a consultant for $.09 an hour. [/quote]

I kept thinking to ask you about any opportunities for you in water law, since I’ve heard it’s kind of a big deal out west. Good luck getting the job!

When will you know about the job? I have all my stuff crossed for you.

So the Frenchman will really be pulling for PMPM to get the job SOON?

(sorry, it was right there)

Good luck with the job.

From one member of the bar to another, best of luck getting that job.

Thanks y’all. The job hasn’t even closed yet, so this is all very premature. This is just the one I want. If I get this, then I’ll believe there’s a reason for everything. Until I start hating the place, when I’ll start to curse.

And we all know ouroboro won’t be crossing her legs for me…that would just be blasphemy.

But, I have other, more pressing matters to consider right now.

You remembered to pack your flippy floppies right?

Good luck on the J.O.B. and dont party too hard…

Good Luck to ya! But I don’t think the video is the most pressing matter you have – I think you have a date with a salad

This is very cool about the job! Is it a long process before you will know?

I thought I was the only schmuck who took water law in law school. I got a B and danced a jig. I went to school at the University of Denver. The school has a law journal dedicated to the subject. Blah!! You are right when you say that it is a fun little cluster-fuck. This is especially so in Colorado where prior appropriation is written into the State Constitution. If things don’t work out for you in OK, there are a lot of good water law firms in CO. Plus the State has a special set of courts just for sorting out water problems. Anyway, nice to meet you PMPM.

just wondering how you are liking the program you are doing now…are you able to recover well? I looked it up and seems brUtal!! No rest?! hows that working?

Nice to meet you as well! I’m actually in CO - I just went to OU for school. I have several DU law friends. When did you graduate? The job is with the AG representing the State Engineer and CWCB.

OK’s awesome because half the state is traditionally riparian, half is prior appropriation, and they never integrated ground and surface water. Yay!

And M-i-MD, I just took a week off to drink beer and fish. I’ve had no trouble with the volume so far, and I always take Saturday off from workouts completely. We’ll see how it goes…

Oh, and FB friends will know I interviewed for the job, on the phone, in my bikini and flip flops, last week. Hope to hear something re: a second interview soon. If not, oh well. I never like phone interviews.

I bet you did great. I’m sure they were already pre-disposed towards you because you already knew them from before right?

I’m assuming you mean Facebook and not fuckbuddy with the FB.

A small point of etiquette–wear something other than a bikini and flip flops if you do a face to face interview. Unless, of course, the interview committee is all men, then go topless.

Montana is another state where water rights are paramount. Used to aggravate my dad no end that we did not have rights to the water in the irrigation ditch that passed through our north field.

Of the four I spoke with, I only met one previously.

Iz can b top friend plz?

I’ve got a nasty cold, the hubby’s got bronchitis.

My friend Ali won her weight class at USAPL Bench Nationals, after initially pulling out due to a wrist injury. After some chiropractic work, she was able to bench through the pain and will be on the World team. Badass!
