This isn’t flirting. It’s gearing up to be full on training log internet sex. I thought I’d use your thread so I don’t have to clean up in mine.

Oh! Well, in that case…

Here’s a towel.

Thanks. I appreciate it. At first I thought the 42 was our score … which isn’t good. Damn Russian judges.

I was going to say the same thing, but I was too busy cleaning the vomit off my keyboard after reading it so I couldn’t respond…

Ron just finished at the Arnold - Con-crete Raw Challenge.

500 Squat (missed 520)
340 Bench
600 Deadlift (missed 640)

He apparently made his third attempts, but they were called - not sure why, I haven’t talked to him yet.

A 32 year old Canadian who had been in the 198s dropped down into Ron’s weight class, and had somewhere around a 400 lb bench, so he won the Open. Ron won the Master’s.

Those are some nice numbers! Does he usually compete RAW or was this something new for him?

The guy that beat him was Greg Doucette. He’s becoming an absolute freak (in a good way). He won the division for RAW and equipted. He’s also competing in the Canadian bodybuilding nationals (I think) in ~2 weeks. In January he set the all-time Canadian best total by wilks.

He usually competes equipped, but did Raw Nationals last year. I think he likes competing raw, but his wife prefers that he wears equipment. He’s been competing for years, and trains a lot of women and teen guys who compete both raw and equipped.

I’ll make sure to break Doucette’s legs next time they are competing head to head. What a beast!!!

Greg is a beast, ashame he can’t make it to Nationals this year. To be honest I was surprised how much his total suffered when he cut to 181, hes done that 20lb cut many times and has done 825kg at 181…he pulled 617 for 10 before the Arnold in suit bottoms and didn’t manage 600 in the raw competition. Still a good showing but not his best I wouldn’t say.

Yesterday I played around with maxing in raw deadlifts and squats.

I warmed up, got to 275 for my deadlift, and couldn’t break 295 after two attempts.

Squatting, I got 245 super deep and super easy, but missed 275 about halfway up. I blame the dude who offered to spot me for ruining my concentration.

I think my 1RMs for deadlift and squat are around 280-285 and 260+. I’d like to get them to 300 and 275 at least, by July. I’d also like to get my raw bench to 175, for a 750 total.

I ordered some knee sleeves and intend to use them for my raw lifting from here on out.

How much have they changed since you last tested them? Did you test bench? Did you find squatting heavy tough to do raw after using gear? I feel so tentative now when I do.

I think they seem a bit lower, but I’m not certain. I also wasn’t really feeling in the “zone” last night. I got 236 in competition last year. 275 feels much lighter on the back than it used to.

Because the weights feel so much lighter, they really aren’t as scary as I thought they would be. I was really pretty pissed that I missed 275.

I hope to test raw bench tonight.

No spotter, so it was play upper body tonight. I also had to have a quick workout so I could get home in time for the Duke game. :stuck_out_tongue:

Clap pushups - 8, 7, 6
BB rows - 3x8x135
Push press - 3x85, 10x65, 3x8x65. These felt heavier than last time, I’m not sure why.
Floor press - 3x8x40lbs DBs

This was my first time with the floor press. They were fun, a little awkward. I found myself trying to curl into a bit of an arch. Is this okay, anyone?

Short workout, but I got a burn in my chest and shoulders, which was the goal.

I’ve decided to do my next two meets raw (with knee sleeves). Hurrah!

If you don’t mind me asking, how does floor press compare to bench press? Or are they even comparable?

I never have a spotter and my bench is terrible and I have a hard time pushing harder when I’m not confident so I was wondering if floor press (db or barbell) might be something I could work with.
