Prep is starting to get a bit difficult, energy levels actually I have started to feel a dip. Workouts and such are still good though.

What are you at macro-wise now Spidey?
get creative with your meals to increase satiety. Protein pancakes made with protein powder, a little flax seed, oats, and egg whites topped with some Walden’s Farms syrup and some fat free Rediwhip are pretty filling. Look for Sara Lee honey wheat 45 calorie bread…7 g carbs per slice! Great for making “breakfast toasters” with fat free cheese, eggs or egg whites (depending on how much fat you’ve got to play with for the day), and turkey bacon with some sugar free ketchup. I also used it to make cheesy garlic bread with spray butter, garlic salt, and fat free cheese. Make fajitas or tacos with 93/7 ground beef, low fat sour cream, salsa, ff cheese, veggies…taco shells are surprisingly easy to fit into macros. As you can see I am a big IIFYM guy, lol ![]()

Wow great ideas, seriously this will help a lot lol.
Right now low and high carb days are 150g and 300g, respectively. Fats are higher on low days, lower on high days.

No problem my man! Tell you what, whenever you’re getting bored with your meals during your prep, I’ll give you a new idea for a meal. I’ve got macro friendly recipes for days!

awesome! I’m a IIFYM guy too, but sadly get lazy and default to meat, rice/potatoes/veggie meals more times then not. Some variation would be awesome! Thanks bud.

Thanks for the long post Pwolves, it was well thought out and I totally understand where you are coming from.
Honestly, I just think I had to kind of get some things moving. These first few weeks of prep, fat loss hasn’t been as easy as we thought it would be. Body just being kind of stubborn. I feel tired and stuff, but like I said, I’m just use to really high carbs, so I feel my body is just adjusting.
I think this is just kind of how my gaining went. If you read back through this, it was like I would stay the same weight, stay the same weight, then I’d eventually hit a certain number in macros and BOOM, I was gaining some muscle! My fat loss will likely be like that. We just kind of had to get the ball rolling I think.
Plus, a lot of natty use a much longer prep then I did, so they can make much smaller adjustments (350 -->325) and see much smaller progress and still come in on time shredded.
I actually have a friend who is working with Layne right now, and he is 15 weeks out, and his carbs are 180g most days, with 300g 2x a week. He is much more advanced then I am, but like me was eating 450+ carbs a day, but surprisingly his weight loss didn’t come as fast as intended and Layne had to cut carbs.
I guess in summary, I’m just saying that things will get adjusted according to progress, and I think (if I know how my body is) here in a bit I’ll hit my stride with fat loss, and things won’t look so bleak. Thank you though, I really do appreciate any input, and don’t think you insulted anyone or anything like that. You’ve been helpful and respectful this whole thread and through out the forums, so thanks!
Side question, for spidey…your friend working with layne norton, do you think the price is outrageous or pretty fair?

Chobbs you dont need Norton, plus he is very selective in his clients these days. Hell you do not need to be paying for a coach right now man…
If you want, ill help you out, just not on here, privately.

I mean, ya get what ya pay for. Layne has a ton of credentials, has a HUGE track record of himself and clients he’s gotten shredded, and seems to tailor everything to the individual. Same thing as John Meadows IMO, just the best in the business, so the price is ‘fair’ in that regard (I know 2 people that have worked with Norton).
However, i personally buy bulk whey and creatine. lol I don’t even really use supplements, I’m in college so I’m not really working with a heavy cash flow, and I’m 6’2" so haven’t even filled out my frame in the least. So yeah, to ME, while his prices are fair, they aren’t for me right now.
I think Shelby is damn good at getting people into condition both assisted and natty. And if I remember correctly jake had to lose a lot for his prep
Anyways I think spideys numbers are ok for the most part but that can always be adjusted. And if you come in condition early cals can be increased slowly.

Thanks Spidey, I gotta say I was a little nervous after posting that that I was going to ruffle feathers. I guess I am pretty big on health being a major focus during a prep and not hurting metabolism more than necessary in the quest for getting shredded for a short period of time, and just wanted to make sure you were ok with the way things were going. Obviously you and Jake know how your body has responded to the manipulations you’ve made so far, and will keep making the changes that are necessary

Oh I completely agree, I was just wondering what someone like him would cost. What’s your preferred method of communication?
FWIW Spidey is still averaging more daily carbs than me in my off-season =) I’d get pretty fat on Spidey’s current macros.
You are gonna find guys on this forum who think no one should ever in their life drop below 150g carbs. You find guys who will say you never need more than 150g carbs.
I can say what I’ve been doing with Spidey has been entirely based off of his progress and not what I “learned” from Shelby. I STARTED my prep at 150g carbs/day and 16 weeks after show finally got back to a higher level regularly.
That being said, I’m completely willing to hand the prep over to any takers who believe they can keep him higher carb than 225/day throughout the prep. Best of luck.

He’d have to up his trenning I think
Updates are sadly that I’m still at 199. Kind of discouraging. It’s strange, it’s like I ‘look’ leaner, I can tell. But I have no vascularity, which isn’t normal. Obviously a good deal of that is fat, but at the same time, I feel like I know myself, and I usually have serious veins in my delts at this level of leanness, in my arms, and even a bit in my abs. Not sure what the deal is.

And the back
no more smiles lol
