SPIDEY: Let's Get You Shredded

So how exactly is physique different than bodybuilding?

Both in terms of judging as well as in terms of training. Other than the board shorts I mean.
Well it’s kind of not about being huge and vascular, more just muscular and lean. Basically fits my proportions a bit better, as I’m 6’2" so to compete in BB’ing I’d probably need to be 240+ off-season weight pretty lean. Lol though I’m still small for Physique likely lol

You don’t do much posing, and because it’s a new category, winners have been, well, I suppose inconsistent. Some look like guys who just were BB’ers at a slightly higher BF%, other times the winners are much more wirey then you’d expect.

Training isn’t much different, you just don’t have to get quite as lean, and lower body isn’t the ‘focus’, as the legs will be covered up (shame for me, as legs grow easily). Luckily I have ok biceps and abs, but delts, chest, and triceps need to be brought up to really stand out in this division.

So as ya’ll know, my Quads aren’t horrible, but will inevitably be covered by board shorts in my Physique competition.

So certain BB’ing federations have a male fitness modeling category, where you wear more posing briefs style stuff, and I think that would look WAY better for the way I’m built. Sadly I can’t find any in my area (they seem more popular in Canada lol)

But then again my Google-Fu could suck, so if ya’ll can find something in the KY or Indiana area, let me know!
Are you unable to order them or prefer to buy them at a store? I am pretty sure those are just “swimming trunks” while the longer ones seen in most physique competitions are “board shorts”.

Ohh sorry, not the shorts, the competition/show lol. The show I’m doing you HAVE to wear board shorts, like only an inch above the knee is the shortest they can be.

Push Power

Floor Press; Felt good today
165x8
185x6
205x3.5

BB Incline:
185x5,4

Power Laterals: Lowered weight a tad
4x10x30’s

Push Press: Felt quite explosive
145x5,4

Rack Pin Press: Meh, didn’t feel great today.
165x8

Good workout today. Kind of missed a rep on top sets initially, then second set would still get 4. Idk why though. Sometimes it takes a set for me to get ‘into’ it. Sleepy now though.

I was quite sleepy today. Just had one of those restless type nights, just because family (3 younger kids in the house) were up all night and loud, so figure why I wasn’t 100% today.

I would hope so…

LOL douche

But anyways, talked to Jake, cutting the Tricep work at the end of power day, seeing as they are getting hit hard from Floor Press anyways. And going 8/6/4 on Incline now. So eliminating the set from CG Bench stuff, and adding it to Incline.

not to mention the other TWO times/week…lol.

Eddie Brock knows how you feel

Ohh yeah, that too. Point being, triceps get a lot of attention anyways lol

Pull Pump

Rope Pulldowns ~SS~ Cable Stretchers: GREAT lat pump from these. Keepers
3x12

Wide Grip Pulldowns ~SS~ Wide DB Rows: Felt really good on upper back
3x8x200/40’s

DB Shrugs:
2x20x90’s

Did one set of light band curls, get blood in the area without much eccentric stress (needed quick pump lol)

Sprints: 5 sets of 10 seconds

Workout was good. Arms look better as of late, but dammit I just look crappy without a solid pump. lol.

Shit, I feel the same hah. Leaning out is some frustrating business, so I’ve been hitting the arms more often to give myself some sanity.

Not to completly derail this but I have a camo venom logo shirt. Beat that.

And Flash Thompson Venom is the shizzle.

That sounds legit, but I mean look at my avi, or my pics… Do I look like I’m someone who looks good in camo. The answer is no…

And idk man, can’t beat Eddie Brock IMO, though I did like the idea of ‘Agent Venom’.

6/4/13

Fly Machine: Really great
3x12x150 —> Drop 105x16

Incline 1.5 Presses:
35’sx15
45’sx12
55’sx10

HS Decline: Smith Machine was taken, so tried these. They were decent I suppose, but I prefer the Smith
1ppsx30
+20x20
+50x15

Laterals: Really kill my delts
4x10+20 partials x 20’s

Rear Delt Machine:
30/25/20 Dropset
10/8/6 Dropset

Tricep Pushdowns Triset: Ok so I do notice that when I lift in the morning, sans carbs, this is where I’m effected. The small movements at the end which are usually higher reps, I just kind of lose some gas.
3x15x(underhand/overhand/overhead)

Cardio: 3 sets of 30 second Bike Sprints. FML

So yeah, lifting in the morning, rather it be because I’m not as awake, because I don’t have intra-WO carbs, or because I just don’t have really any food in me, but I seem to lose some gas on my higher rep set stuff at the end of my workouts. Don’t know if that’s much of an issue, but something I noticed.
