Thanks for the insight and suggestions Needa. I took some time to really meditate last night before I went to sleep (something I used to do frequently about a year ago). Life is a bit stressful overall so that could be the cause, but I did end up not having the nightmares last night, so that’s a good sign.

That’s great to hear. Ironically the night after posting the suggestion I slept a grand total of 3 hours. So clearly I am not the one to turn to for help in this area…

It also doesn’t help that she kind of hangs out with these kids that are douche bags. Like sometimes multiples ones in the group will claim to have had the highest grade in the class on a test or something, so I think she has a false sense of failure and that she’s the only one having a tough time because all of them are acting like it’s a breeze a lying about what their scores are and how much time their putting in.
Why is she hanging out with douchebags that hurt her esteem?
They are friends of her friends, if that makes sense? And with them all in Pharmacy school they all study together, etc.
It makes sense. Exactly what I thought actually. Am I correct in assuming she has no other consistent social circle at the time (barring you)?
Budreiser: Yeah, even with a pretty big arch, my ROM is kind of dumb. Even when I take a ‘wide’ grip, Bench stroke is still longer than most,
PlainPat: Yeah man, I’m feeling good dude, definitely feel like I’m in a groove again
Needa: Well I’m having the weird nightmares again, I honestly just think stress at work has increased a bit. I’m just going to try and continue relaxation techniques, that’s all I’ve got on me unless I try melatonin or some ZMA
Spar4tee: Meh, not really. I mean she’s not the most social person. Not in a bad way, she just doesn’t care for most people. Kind of a April from Parks and Rec kind of personality. But moving to a new city without me for awhile, she’s ‘trying’ to branch out, trying to befriend friends of friends and such. But she’s just coming to conclusion everyone’s kind of douchey. And guys apparently hit on her a lot, which she just hates, finds it insulting when she feels someone could be a decent friend and they just turn out to be attracted to her lol
Off day today, but went outside to practice the Push Press.
Apparently I’ve been doing this wrong my whole lifting career, just basically doing a OHP with leg drive, not starting with this from a ‘clean’ position. Anyways, just worked with a few reps at 135, to get the feel for it. I feel the eccentric feels a bit ‘off’, but maybe that’ll get better with practice.

I feel that lol. She sounds like someone that does better with fewer, closer friends. It sounds like the guys that are hitting on her are chodes, so nothing to really worry about there.

Yeah buddayyy. If you can catch a clean properly, you should be able to catch a push press properly. If you can’t, well there you go.
I do my push presses “incorrectly” on purpose. It’s just a way for me to get more weight overhead and help my regular press. Other than if you are competing or just like to do clean and presses/ jerks, is there an advantage from a strength/ hypertrophy standpoint of doing them starting from a clean grip?
Spar4tee: Honestly, idk if I can catch a clean properly lol. Never really tried. I mean, I’ve can Front Squat in a rack position fine lol. It’s more the action of launching the bar explosively without knocking myself in the chin lol
Sam: Well from my limited understanding, the bar being actually across your shoulders allows a straight transfer of energy from you legs, to your torso, to your shoulders, to the bar. So doing it the other way will limit the amount of weight you’re able to throw overhead. And if you’re going to eliminate the bottom ROM with the leg drive, you want to make sure you’re using enough weight to compensate and overload your delts + tris still. Plus, I’ve always gotten wrist pain from push presses before doing this, so it may be safer in that case.

Yessir
DL Dayyy
Sumo DL’s: Form is much improved. Still working on finding the starting height of my hips before initiating the pull fully, so when I get that down things will come together. Alternated between straps and hook grip.
385x5x6
Paused High Bar Squats: These are really hard after Sumo, my tear-drop is pumped beyond belief at this point lol
195x2x8
Chins, Abs, Rear Delts
Surprised by how form seemed to tighten up on Sumo well. Definitely still a work in progress but it’s getting there. Using hook grip let’s me set up a bit tighter, but I just can’t manage the thumb abuse for all 5 sets lol. Scraped up the inside of my thighs and shins something crazy with these too lol
Hmmm I never thought of it like that. Definitely makes sense. Will definitely try them out the correct way on Monday when I do push presses. Deadlifts looked much better by the way
@Spidey Been following for a while, haven’t posted. Very impressive pulls.
Definitely agree about the push press. I also push pressed incorrectly for a while–bar started in usual press position, and I would even come up on my toes during the dip.
Started doing them correctly around two months ago and I’m noticing a world of difference. I’m pressing more weight, and I’m moving the weight much faster. The bar path also feels significantly better.
Keep up the good work!
Loled at “fuck”
Ya girl having some trouble? She’s welcome to come lift with me and the girl I’m dating. Miranda will straight punch a dude that is inappropriate, so they could hang out together, haha.
Your hips started just a hair below where you broke, so you’re pretty close. I liked the way you loaded your eccentric before the first pull, though ![]()

Thanks for following along man! Glad to have you here. Yeah, it seems so obvious now, as to why Push Presses gave me such issues lol. I’m glad you’ve had success with it, definitely gives me hope haha

Awesome, I looked up a lot of tutorials, there were some decent Crossfit ones.
And thanks dude, your advice on concentrating on the lockout helped.

Dude, hook grip hurts, even with lighter weight lol
She’s not having problems per say, I just think she just needs some good friends. I’ll be back down the this coming Thursday until Saturday, we should all hang out and/or lift.
I learned from the best <3
Benchin’
Flat BB: sigh… was supposed to get 205x4x8… and I want to kill myself
205x2x7
205x2x5
Reverse Band: Didn’t even get this for 6 FML
245x5
No-Arch Flat BB:
155x2x10
Wide Grip Flat BB:
155x2x10
That was it. The Flat Bench is a cold, frigid bitch. But seriously, idk what happened. While 195x10 wasn’t the easiest last week, not being able to even hit 8 with 10 more lbs seems silly. I literally just hit a wall, and I’m just not strong nor big enough to bust through it. Fuckkkkkkk I’m going to commit seppuku it’s really my only option at this point.
Did my arm workout today, went fine.
Honestly I feel like such a douche meathead for saying this but I’ve been in a bad mood all day from yesterday’s Bench session. I’m going to psyche myself out if I’m no careful but damn I’m so disappointed in myself. I’ve been doing ‘over-warmups’, and it’s done great at kind of priming me mentally for a few sets (chobbs suggested it so s/o to him). But it makes no sense for me to hit 250 in my over warm-up for a fairly easy single, than fuck up a 205x8 set. Idk, it’s just frustrating.
