Spidey: Back in Black

Keep up the good work Spidey, I’d say those new pictures are the best you’ve ever looked!

Awesome video on breathing. Just what I needed. Although I will have to watch it a few more times to try and understand how to get the obliques to brace.

Do you do much warm-up before the box jumps? Does your gym provide the boxes? Are they specific pylo boxes?
Im asking this as I am considering adding these into my program, although Im a little concerned about the risk of injury? Did you learn any technique for jumping?

Yeah, definitely a technique I have to work on. Naturally I seem to suck in my stomach when I breath in, so it’s difficult to fight that urge. I’ve been wearing a real loose belt, even on lighter sets, to teach myself to pushout against it. Seems to be helping.

I do a dynamic warm-up if I’m feeling tight, but usually the 10 minute walk to the gym gets me pretty warmed up. The boxes are at the gym, standard plyo boxes from teh looks of them, nothing stupid high. About to belly button level to me. I know how to jump from basketball, I just try to dip down fast, use my arms to add some power, etc. But the jumps aren’t very high, or stressful in the least. They do seem to help me get firing though, as I’ve been much more explosive, sooner, when incorporating them. And as I’ve written, I’m naturally a very slow-twitch kind of dude. lol

Thanks man, that means a ton!

SSC: Thanks man. I think it’s just the angle. I have a decent quad sweep at certain angles, so it looks bigger. I mean, my left is a ‘tad’ bigger from years of basketball, jumping off that foot always, I have a better MMC with it and it’s about 2 reps stronger on most lifts. But it’s definitely not as drastic as the picture makes it look.

Same thing happened to me with pole vaulting. Left quad and calf are bigger than my right because I was always jumping off of it. Are you doing anything to try and even them out?

I always include some form of unilateral work in my training now. So I always do as many reps/as much weight as I can with my weaker side, then just match it with the other. I real it took years of work to create the imbalance, so it’ll probably require close to the same to reverse it lol

I did Lats and Arms yesterday, nothing spectacular.

Today I’m 22. Definitely feel it’s the best I’ve ever looked and felt. So that was my gift to myself, improved aesthetics and gains from last year. lol

Also, I really wanna thank all of ya’ll, just because of how much ya’ll have pushed me, kept me on track, been supportive, etc. Jake helped me tremendously this summer, as Omar Isuf is now. And anyone who has contributed or lurked to either this log or the prep log, I appreciate it greatly. Continue to keep me honest, and giving me advice. Thanks guys.

His name is Omar Isuf. He’s got a Youtube channel. Very intelligent, not a guy who was born yoked, definitely had to work for all the progress he’s made. Has been great working with him so far.

Yeah I’ve seen his channel. Didn’t know he did coaching. I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a coach. Excited to see how it works out for you

Welp, today just sucked, and honestly have no real explanation as to why. This type of program works well for my DL and Squat, but for pressing and pulling I need a bit more volume. Will talk to Omar.

Keep your head up, one cycle of 5/3/1 I got 240x7 then within 2-3 weeks it was 245x2 lmao you’re putting your time, reps and set in the gods will reward you with gainz

Happy belated birthday. I guess we’re almost week apart (mines the 17th).

Thanks chobbs and Lorez appreciate the support and birthday wishes.

Just didn’t have it in me today. Took some video for ya’ll though, being at my home gym and all.

LOL You have the little kid face in your thumbnail.

Do you really feel those movements well? Because honestly that looks like very poor form to me… and I don’t poor in that you’re cheating the weight up, I mean it doesn’t look like you’re really targeting what you want to there.
