Nice one!
Nice to see another Colorado person on here! Your form on squats is good (I’m also laughing about how far you have to walk for your platform also).
And on your deadlifts Cbear is right on. Keep up the good work!
Clappity Clappity Clappity Clappity loud whistle Whoooo hoooooooooo!!!
Thanks Cal! Thanks Chrysalis! I love deadlifting!

Thanks! I’ll be adding weight to the squat soon. I was squatting in the cage, until I video’ed myself and found out I was totally cheating depth by bouncing the bar off the rail. So now, I walk out, catch a bus across town… ![]()
On the deadlift, I will take another video Monday. I think I’ve improved tightness but I still don’t get the “pull toward you” part of it. I mean, my hips have to straighten up, so how is that not “up”? I curled my toes up as I have seen suggested. I’m studying videos as much as possible. I’ll keep at it!

Kimba, I’m staying with the box indefinitely. It keeps me honest on my depth and I am not resting at the bottom, just touching my butt. Is there a disadvantage to box squats, as long as you are making depth? I will try to add just 5 lbs on Friday so I guess I’m adding about 10% week too.

165!! That is so awesome. I have some deadlift catching up to do, missy.
I don’t want to have to rely on the box to know I’ve got depth. I want to feel it without a prop. So the box is just there until I learn how it feels to squat to correct depth. Leaning on a prop too heavily is ALWAYS a disadvantage, I think.
ok im not quoting anyone, so i can see multiple posts at a time… no one go back and edit your shit!
arachne! HELL YEAH! pr!!! WOOOOHOOOOO! CLAPCLAPCLAPCLAP!!! and some antibiotics.
“squatting to a box” and “box squats” are different beasts.
“Box Squats” imply a pause at the bottom, and the explosive strength required to overcome that standstill and get the weight back up there.
“squatting to a box” implies that you’re unsure of your depth and are not pausing while on said box.

Ah! Of course. So, I have no intention of discontinuing “squatting to a box”, but I may try “box squats” at some point.
Is anyone else out there obsessed with deadlifts? I spend my evening studying deadlift videos on youtube when I could be surfing porn.
Or eating I guess. I hit 108 lbs this morning and believe me that is not a good thing. I think I’ll skim some advice off AlisaV’s log and find a way to get some calories in me. Funny thing is, I eat all the time, but I like vegetables. If I have a meeting I skip a meal and the next day, I’m down again.
Tomorrow is Friday: squat day. ![]()
I do the same thing. I swear most of my goofing-off time is now exercise-related.
I can let you know what I eat, but it’s not really “clean.” (God! at FA apparently yogurt is too “processed” a food. They’d stone me if they found out about the pizza.)

Holy cow you’re light. There was a time when I weighed that much. Now I don’t feel like the skinniest one here though, so thanks for that.haha

Yes. Me too.
I am NOT having this problem. My sister is staying with us for a few days and she is a great cook, whereas I hate to cook. I just hit 115 for the first time in MONTHS after eating the homemade chicken enchiladas.
Mmmmm. Enchiladas.
You need to spend this upcoming weekend eating. Your ass will thank you!
I weighed 108 in… 6th grade I think. wow. eat something.
Saturday:
Only had time for bench and squat.
Squat 1x5 55, 65, 75, 80 lbs. <form good, depth good. Still squatting to the box to stay honest. Had to suck everything in pretty hard on the last rep of 80 lb. We’ll see how long it takes to get back up to 115 with proper depth.
Bench 1x5 55, 65, 75, 85 1x2 90 1x1 95 1x1 100 lb < this is a PR yay! My (8 yo) son was helping me by hauling the weights on and off and encouraging me. Very cute!
Over and out!
Well done on the PR.

That is so cute that your son was cheering on the team!
I am very impressed with your 100# bench. That is almost your bodyweight. Awesome!
