As much as I love the snow sports (skiing for me) I am just NOT READY FOR COLD. Wasn’t it just summer?

I am wondering where fall went. We went from 80’s a few weekends ago to great frozen tundra. 9 degrees over Evaro Hill today on my way to work, and my sweet peas are frozen solid, but still green and flowering. Like something out of an evil fairytale story.

You can already go boarding? Damn it’s just cold and wet here.

Ok, so the boarding was a single run of made-snow. Not exactly peak season, but it was great to get out there.

Monday update:

I am soo f’ing happy to be back lifting.

BB overhead press: 1x5 45, 50, 55 1x3 60 and 1x4 57.5 lb. < I was really hoping for a 5 RM at 57.5 as my previous 5 RM is 55 but no dice. I’ll catch it next time.

DB overhead press

rcfromdb your avatar is incredibly distracting! I can barely type with her wiggling up there!

DB overhead press: 1x10 20 1x6 25 lb
BB squat 1x5 55, 60, 65, 70 lb < video on next post for criticism. I am making depth now, I think.
BB deadlift 1x5 115, 125 < video at 135 on following post for criticism.
DB row 1x5 25, 30, 35, 40 1x2 45 lb
BB hipthrust 3x5 135 lb

video to follow.

My squat at 65 lb. My PR is 115 but now I am questioning whether I really got depth at that weight. Comments requested.

My deadlift at 125 with a PR of 155. I see my hips starting the motion. Anything else? Thanks for any comments!

they did start the motion, but it wasnt the worst ive ever seen.

something that helped me immensely with dl is not to think in terms of “up”, but in terms of “forward” and “back.”

if you squeeze your ass tight, and bring your hips FORWARD, and think very much about pulling the bar BACK, it might help. it was after I understood that, that all of the “drive with your heels” and “spread the floor apart with your feet” started to make sense.

everything looks pretty good. i bet u could dl more than 155.

That box squat was pretty darn low. Nice job!

Perhaps its time for us to add some weight to the bar…

Thank you ma’am. I will think about all these things. I think I drive with my heels more when the weight goes up, so I’ll try to bring that to each lift. I still don’t get the “forward and back”, “push and pull” concept, but I will keep working on it.
Thanks again!

Kimba and Dejavued,
I’m ready to start really pushing those two lifts. I think I can add quite a bit to the deadlift for sure. Let’s go!

I plan on going slow, and shooting for perhaps a 5-10# increase every workout. Sort of a long-term focused 5/3/1 approach. I don’t want to have to backtrack because of form issues again!

For some reason, I’m more confident about the deadlift than the squat. At this point, I’m planning to train box squats for at least a month or two so I can’t cheat on depth as I ratchet up to my old PR. You?

Ladies and Gentlemen!

I am pleased to announce a new PR for my deadlift. Using the advice from powerful women here and from my sensei (keep your core tight), I achieved 165 lb at 1 rep today. AND matched my previous PR bench at 95 for one rep while NOT getting pinned under the bar!

Here are the stats:
BB deadlift: 1x5 115, 125, 135 1x3 145 1x1 155, 165 lbs
BB bench: 1x5 55, 65, 75, 85 1x1 90, 95 lbs < it’s a whole body lift, it’s a whole body lift…
Chinups 2x3 bw+15 lbs
Dips 1x5 bw+3, bw+5 lbs
Incline bench 2x5 55 lbs

Whoo. Hoo.

Kimba, I’m staying with the box indefinitely. It keeps me honest on my depth and I am not resting at the bottom, just touching my butt. Is there a disadvantage to box squats, as long as you are making depth? I will try to add just 5 lbs on Friday so I guess I’m adding about 10% week too.

nice!!! way to go miss spider!
