no

So I’m currently in a Cutting phase and taking BCAA’s per the recommended dosage. Which is the better choice for preserving muscle mass during a Cutting phase… Lucine or BCAA’s? At this time I only want to use one or the other.

I think they are both beneficial during a cutting phase.

Leucine, especially, since you are eating less food overall and still want the meals to be anabolic.

I received my shipment yesterday and tried a serving this morning… the taste mixed in water isn’t great but is certainly bearable. Maybe it’s a placebo effect, but I seem to feel more energetic?

After two servings I defiantly feel something! Just got my order today along with Surge Workout Fuel, can’t wait to see how these products work!

Well… we’re not buying it for the taste. I also feel a surge in the bloodstream for sure, after I knock a serving down.

This isn’t surprising since many of our athletes have given very positive feedback on using L-Leucine prior to training.

It’s one of the reasons it’s included in Surge Workout Fuel.

I just received two containers of this stuff…It isn’t a pain at all to throw it down the ol throat and drink. After using 1Fast400 brand Leucine for 7 weeks, Biotest Leucine is a cakewalk. By the way, L-Leucine works…my strength levels fell just a few days after I ran out of my supply.

I have found the best way to get this stuff down without any bad aftertaste is:

  • Fill some water in a glass
  • Put a serving in the glass but do not mix it, so that the powder stays afloat on the water
  • Down the stuff and follow it with another glass of water

I think the instructions on the label of sprinklinkg it on your food would only apply to those without taste buds.

This stuff is definitely bitter. It doesn’t mix well either. I can’t taste it when i mix my shakes and put real fruit with them. I can detect it, but nothing over-powering. My question is would it be ok to consume 10g post-workout in a shake and then maybe another 10g in another shake later?

Doesn’t the article say that anything more than 5 grams at a time is a waste?

OK, I waited til tonight to post this because about now is usually when the DOMS from the previous days training is highest.

I put a scoop in my shake and had one more down the throat in the middle of the night with my midnight glop snack and right now my doms is at least 50% less than usual. I know how sore I should be from last night’s workout and the only thing different than usual is this.

It’s actually a little weird.

OH, yeah, I found it to have practically no taste at all. Couldn’t tell it was in my shake ans straight it was barely detectable. I can eat almost anything though so I may not be the best source for how something tastes.

Since it is recommended that BCAA is not taken with Surge Workout Fuel is this to say L-Leucine > BCAA peri workout?

No one has touched this thread in a while and I’ve spent the last hour or so reading the entire thing.

Let’s see if I got this right:

-no need to use this is a pro shake b/c so long as we have 30+ grams of Protein in it, we’ll get enough of the L-Leucine. If less than 30g, then the L-Leucine is helpful.

-it should be used when our regular solid food feedings are “short” of protein. (personally, oftentimes my living situation has limited protein in the solid meals. I could take a shake with it, but then I’ll need no L-Leucine anyway as point one mentioned).

Now my question:

The dose on the container says each scoop it 5g and we should take no more than 20g/day. That’s four scoops. Now, if we do 3 protein shakes (each having more than 30g of protein in it), then we’ll go over the 20g/day…(let’s just round it off to 2.5g of L-Leucine/serving…that would equal 7.5g from protein shakes alone).

Do we have to keep the intake, overall (all factors included, including what I stated in my previous paragraph) to under 20g/day?

Thanks for any input.

Is this a dosing situation or does Leucine work better with a certain type or quantity of food? Meaning would beans become super beans and the more you eat the better.

I have read that leucine isn’t as potent with just carbohydrates, it’s more effective with a healthy mix of protein and carbohydrates. I’m assuming that with the beans since they do have a some protein you will reap the benefits. You could try mixing in a bit of ground beef in the beans as well, or an egg or 2 thats what I do!

I’ve been putting it on my meals and the taste is so awful, seriously, I can’t eat the food. I guess my taste buds hone in on it.

Just pour a serving in your mouth and follow with water.

Quite a few people around here use L-Leucine this was because it’s quick and easy.

Will L-Leucine cause problems when mixed in with a refrigerated, perishable food a day or so before consumption? I like making enough chicken salad (chicken, salt/pepper, enough salad dressing to bind it together) for a couple of days, all at once. Can I mix in, say, four servings of L-Leucine when I first make it, or will it ferment/degrade/create a big fiery ball visible from space?
