I am not sure why, but he didn’t do Free Test this time. Actually what he said was a bit backwards as he thought total T was more important. He is a really nice guy. He is calling back to have a couple more tests done on my “thyroid” part as he says it is too high, and he says if he see what he expects to see there, he will put me on a thyroid hormone. He said many of my symptoms would fit hypothyroidism. TSH was the only thing that came back out of range. He also said my testosterone would probably come up as my thyroid normalized. I will know the results on the additional thyroid tests tomorrow or Thurs. He scheduled me to go back in April to retest everything too including my Testosterone which he is still slightly concerned about.

So what are your thoughts. I have a few more lab tests, but tried to include the ones I see asked about the most here.

Your T is low, and your TSH levels are high. Read through the thyroid sticky. Get a thermometer and take your temperature and log it like the sticky says.

You’re going to be the best person to be in charge of your T and thyroid. Read more and learn!

Thank you for the reply! 95.7 and 96.0 this morning with a new thermometer. Do you agree with the doctor about treating the thyroid first before touching the low T issues? Also one result I didn’t post. carbon dioxide was 28 (19-28).

I say definitely treat your thyroid first and you may find that it was the cause of your symptoms and low t.

Fix your thyroid.

I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks guys. Started the thyroid pills today. I went ahead and ordered the iodine supplement recommended. I will take that too and who knows, maybe I will be able to eventually come off the meds. I am looking forward to having the energy I used to have.

I have yet to see someone come back from taking thyroid hormones and saying their sex hormones have normalized. I had hypothyroidism and my testosterone barely moved w/ thyroid hormones. What causes hypothyroidism may also cause hypogonadism, just supplementing thyroid hormones does not fix why hypothyroidism occurs (in huge numbers nowadays).

Some say it is due to iodine deficiency…I think iodine is a great supplement but there has been no results of someone totally normalizing their thyroid and sex hormones with iodine and ‘supporting nutrients’ though people report their symptoms have improved. Definitely wait and see though but you may unfortunately be disappointed to find your symptoms have only diminished.
