Who did the original version? The Foo Fighters do a version that’s bad ass.

Original is by Gary Numan, if I remember correctly.

Some of Tool’s songs were covered by the String Quartets. I’m a huge Tool fan but really like these versions as well. They really make the music have an “epic” feel to it.

Schism

The Patient

The Hollow (by A Perfect Circle)

You should check out Amazon.ca

it’s good, but really creapy. When i saw it I couldn’t resist buying it for my best friend who just had his first kid. We listened to it and decided we liked it, but it might give a kid nightmares. It might actually be the same music as what you linked above, damn work won’t let me visit youtube so I cant’ tell at the moment.

what a nice twist on things!

Yeah I think it’s an interesting take on the songs.

They actually make a whole series of these String “Tributes”. One for almost any band you can think of.

That’s interesting. I’d never heard those before.
Judging by the name, I reckon that you’re a Tool fan as well.

“Summer Breeze” by Type O Negative.

“Rasputin” by Turisas (nobody here will know who they are so don’t worry about it)

As you can imagine, hooking up with one of the Beatle’s wives did not go over well with many people. But if i recall my trivia correctly she is the only women to ever have 2 number 1 songs written about her by 2 seperate men. Harrison had a number one hit off of Abbey Road that was written for her too. [/quote]

‘Something in the way she moves’, I think.

And, I don’t know if that was a number 1 song, but I believe Clapton also wrote ‘Wonderful tonight’ for her.

another GREAT cover

Lilac Wine- Jeff Buckely

(covered 44 times by various artists including Nina Simone written by James Allen Shelton)

I scoured the net for a live performance of this song, there is only one on youtube in Chicago '95, but it doesn’t load up for anybody. Then I found this live performance (www.dailymotion.com) from Germany also in 95, but the sound cuts out at about five minutes in. The first five minutes of it is amazing though so I’m proper disappointed.

Anyway its brilliant.

While I’m on the subject, this is not a cover but happens to be one of my favorite songs ever by Jeff Buckley, he’s doing it with Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins

All Flowers In Time Bend Toward The Sun

Nope. He’s a British artist whose been around for a while. Industrial/Electronic Rock. I don’t really know much about him other than he wrote “Down in the Park” in 1979.

Are you talking about the same Gary Numan who did ‘Cars’ ? If so that was his biggest hit here.

Yep, I believe that’s him.

How about Pantera’s version of “Planet Caravan”?
Type-O Negative’s “Black Sabbath” from the Nativity in Black Album was good, too.

UB40–Red, red wine (originally by Neil Diamond)
