I realized that its at this point I get to, get bored, gain back 5-8lbs and re-lose it all over again.
I’m breaking that cycle so I can move on with my life. Dieting sucks. And if I haven’t already put a number on my insides(hormonal crap) then I’m probably well on my way.
I just wanna eat and lift like a ‘normal,’ person. And look good naked. [/quote]
I’m right there with you. I tend to put on weight, panic, put myself on a brutal diet, lose 8-10lbs so that my clothes are no longer tight but at that point, I run out of diet stamina. I never seem get as far as having actual definition.
Good luck with you effort - I’ll be cheering for you.
Ppuff- is gaining some muscle one of your goals? If you were going to up anything it would definitely be protein…at least for me anyway.
A clean bulk if you will, which is something I am going to attempt come late summer. To build muscle there has to be a surplus of cals coming in from somewhere…a lot of people eat whatever, get sloppy, and gain a bunch of fat on top of the muscle…I don’t believe it has to be like that.
Some fat gain is normal…but that is what spring is for to shed the winter coat.
N was sharing her funny knees, so thought I would share mine. I never really noticed until I started taking progress pics…and I think Cal was the first to say something…
But I think its a real issue that may be contributing to balance, knee problems and abilities to do certain lifts…problem is that I don’t know how to fix it now…I was born this way. (lady gaga)
My Mom haaaated when I stood like this as a kid…but I couldn’t help it!! Is this weird?
It just occurred to me that doing decline push-ups, although harder, ensures you have good form. Maybe try that? It does hit the muscles differently, though. Perhaps one day I’ll get around to filming my own.
That awesome cracking noise is my left knee.
Closer stance= easier to get down, but more knees issues…
wider stance= harder to get down, but doable…less knee issues.
Which is why I naturally prefered wider stance all along…but then read that I should mix in narrower stance as to not create imbalances. But I’m already imbalanced!
That right leg looks really jacked up to me. Could explain why my balance sucks on the right, even though Im right handed. But how did I get that way?? I did break my ankle when I was 8, but I remember being hyper-flexible in the legs before then.
So glad about your daughter doing so well! That is really awesome news.
Thanks for the BF% link. Those pictures were really interesting.
I completely understand about weird knees, since I have my own brand of weirdness. We all are built a little differently, and thus are doomed to trial and error to find what works for US.
1 cup of chex mix(1/2 on the way to the store, 1/2 on the way home! )
steak
2 medium red potatos
4 oz pasta
glass o chocolate milk
rice crispy treat(s!)
I kept track best I could…still only came up with 288C 43F and only 100P (1870cals)
Lets just say 2,000cals…not bad. But according to the book I’m supposed to get an upwards of 5-6grams of Carb per lb of BW!! Thats roughly 875 carbs…HOW!!! 2-3grams Carb the following day and 1-2 the next…the 3rd day is optional though.
Oh and I was feeling extremely warm…and my upper bod was looking insanely vainy…like I had a mad pump goin on…
I even got some veins to POP slightly!!! I’d say I’m 1-2% loss of BF before I get some shoulder veins to start poppin…
Is that weird to be excited about?
I think knees are weird looking, no matter what. They’re a weird part of the body but very crucial to our balance and movement and all sorts of things.

Haha yeah true. I didn’t see anything weird about your knees or Mainy’s FWIW.
Catching up. I agree with others that your wide stance squat looks good. As far as your one leg is being jacked up… what exactly feels wrong?
I also agree with your statement regarding not getting sloppy during the bulk. I don’t think that you have to gain that much fat while you’re bulking. Maybe it is the stuff that I eat, but I never put on that much perceptible fat mass during bulking. I’ve never kept track of bf % so maybe I’m totally wrong?!
And I love seeing the veins too. They don’t even need to be popping for me to get excited. I even like to see new vasculature. Usually notice it the most around my shoulders, chest where the skin is thin and it is easy to see.
Have fun at Red Robin with the kiddos! Keep up the great work. I’m excited to see you getting closer to your goals, good luck with diet 2.0.
