Soldiering On

Thanks Veggie!!
Nope, no tire flipping lately. She’s lonely out there and I promise to make time SOON!

Ppuff- thanks girl…I’m not sure how much protein I was eating before but my target is 200+ for a little while…protein and green things, yum! Going down a size or two is the plan

Look at those push-ups! Love it! Sounds like you’re doing fabulously with your diet. (PS crazy picture!)

Hey, I can’t take credit for half of those push ups…I, like many other people, probably aren’t doing them right…I take that back, I KNOW I’m not doing them right…

oh well…just a new thing to tackle. do what you hate! Probably the same goes for lunges…I’m a too far foward leaner.

Daughter had a follow up appt yesterday. All is mostly well. Everything downstream is working…but now they will watch the bit of stenosis she has in the aortic and mitral valve…at this point I can’t even remember if that was mentioned before.
So yesterday when the good Dr was talking, I was hearing but not computing.
Its funny the way the brain receives information…especially when you are by yourself.
Oh and I HAAAATE my GPS… I haven’t gone the same way there and back, YET! And it likes taking right through freakin downtown DC…we went right by the ZOO! felt like goin there instead and ditching the appt. But the Dr was running late, so it worked out.

All I really remember is that it is not significant and he is not worried. Good news is that her blood pressure was awesome and no more meds!! her next appt is in 2 months and hubby will be home by then…at least he can help to absorb the info…

Gotta go to the gym to torture, I mean train! my person… its a whole new level when you have someone eager and willing to put the work in…farmers walks are on the menu this evening

GREAT news on your daughter’s recovery!

So happy to hear that your daughter is doing well. No meds is super.

Hope you have fun and don’t kill your client!

Glad to hear the good news about your daughter!

yep…just a little blip on the radar. I wish she didn’t have those other tiny problems, but she has no restrictions…so life goes on.
Its crazy how the body compensates…when she had her MRI done before the surgery it was discovered that she made several tiny “side roads,” to help!

My client had tons of fun…even got her under the ‘real,’ bar to bench…it gave me a happy! And she was feeling pretty tough I think

The Mom/daughter duo bought into 18 more sessions!!! :open_mouth:

I thought this was cool:

So glad to hear your daughter is recovering so well.

And you have clients! That’s awesome!

I just tried the creamsicle shake this afternoon. LOVE it! Now I have to make more because my first grader loved it too!

Good for your daughter!

I hate lunges too. I finally was able to get my knees to the ground…only problem is that when I get down on my left knee, I can’t get back up again…It’s like my left knee, ankle, and foot refuse to bend to get down there and once I’m there? I’m stuck. It sucks.

oooh! maybe you can add just a scoop of REAL ice cream along with the protein as well!!

My kids like it too!

yes, clients!! I wish it was always like this…steady work, steady pay…thats what Im looking for.

I’m glad that you and your daughter are doing well Mim. Congrats as well on the personal training picking up.

This is how I do push ups(not on the knees)

And these are ‘military push ups’ which is the way your supposed to do them, as I have been reading…

so which way is right?

Back in the day when I was in boot camp, there was no right way…you just dropped when they told you to…and if you fell to the floor then you had to start over.

ooh! I made it through the first round of ‘lose the final effing 10 lbs already!’…today and tomorrow I refeed and start over again on Sun Monday. (havent decided)

No weigh in, no pics, no measurements…will do next time around.

For my first yummy-ness of the day, I had oatmeal with my cottage cheese…never tasted better!

I realized that its at this point I get to, get bored, gain back 5-8lbs and re-lose it all over again.
I’m breaking that cycle so I can move on with my life. Dieting sucks. And if I haven’t already put a number on my insides(hormonal crap) then I’m probably well on my way.

I just wanna eat and lift like a ‘normal,’ person. And look good naked.

Mims - It’s true. The last 5 are incredibly hard but that’s when you really uncover the muscle and look great. So worth it. I recall a quote by Tony Horton “Never give up on what you think about everyday.” There will also be a sense of relief when you get to your goal so you can think about other things. Dieting down takes a lot of mental energy.

As for adding ice cream to my creamsicle, I’m eating up but still very clean. My lil girl would love it though! Your protein intake has me wondering if I’d build faster if I upped my protein a bit. Must make creamsicle shake later!

This is all "B"awesome - in the words of Rhino the hamster.(from Bolt the disney movie, my kid is on this kick of watching it for the last 2 weeks & I can’t get it out of my head - ugh).

Um yea anyway, carry on soldier!

oops…meant to post this link instead of the same one twice:

It fits! I bought this back in DEC and it felt like an evil torture device…I still ‘lat fat,’ my cause they stick out over the top in the back…looks kinda funky. oh well!

Hey MiM, as for the push-ups, I don’t think the alignment of hands, arms, and shoulders is that important. I tend to use a slightly wider positioning, and I usually end up angling my hands inward. I dunno, works for me.

FWIW, when I got my push-up critique, I was told it was important to bring your arms all the way back to a straight position (as I tend to keep a bend when I’m knocking out high reps). As long as you’re not hurting your shoulders, I can’t imagine you could be doing them so wrong that you’re not getting something out of it!

Congrats on making it through the first round of your diet!! Stick with it! Prrrrrretty sure you already look good naked, but I know you’re going to look even better! Keeping that positive attitude and believing you’re going to get the results this time will help.

OMG! The hubby really is coming home before you know it!! YAY!

So glad to hear about lil Miss getting all fixed up and doing well. I’m REALLY happy to hear this!

AND congrats on the total upswing of clients. MiM - you’re killing it!! Awesome.

Love the pushup tutorial! However, I wouldnt recommend anyone doing pushups on their knees. I would recommend starting on an incline and then working down to the floor. But that’s just me. Maybe I just have an aversion to knees on floor b/c its what all the cardio bunnies do when they’re “toning” up. I just want to tell them to straighten their shit out and start higher if they need to! Grrr…

Looking awesome MiMsie! Keep up the great work. Lots of awesome, positivity in here! Woot woot!!

Back from the gym…did a whatever workout, because I did whatever I wanted…

I felt the awkward glances from new people, checking me out as if I were new like 'whoah, theres a chick entering the big boy section!

But will go in 1-2x a week to do the big lifts.

I still have some semblance of strength left…

I was able to bench 105x3

1 arm db press- 30x10

RDL- 135x8

stuff like that. But you know what I was really sad about? How incredibly hard static lunges are when you don’t lean forward :frowning:
I used to be able to do reps of 12-15 with 95+…
I barely got got 6 out of my left leg…I tried it holding 25 lbs plates at my sides and the form felt more comfy…still hard!! I’m looking to get db handles for home…

Thanks for the push up tips. You all should upload YOUR push ups!! I bought some pu handles at WM for less than $9 to have around.
