Social Life vs Bodybuilding?

Ugh, unless your actually training for a contest, or extremely dedicated, I’ve never seen the point. TO me, bringing meals to parties makes you look like a tool. But it really doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks but you. Frankly, I enjoy getting hammered once in awhile , havin fun, and not worrying if I’m getting in that 6 meal at 11 pm.

This will look really really really dumb and I know it. BUT … I will say it anyways.

Consider GHB.

Doesnt have the bad effects of alchool, is cheaper, and reproduce pretty much the same feeling as being “drunk” except u feel hornyer.

Im far from a BodyBuilder but I like to think im pretty dedicated.I have learned two things in the past couple years,

  1. few things frustrate me more than hitting the gym and feeling weak or tired and lifting less than last week because I got shitfaces the day before or all weekend.

2.Ive done plenty of partying and if I miss a night or weekend I dont care, banging weights in the gym is much more gratifying and feels better than getting wasted.

But I still get sucked in, I find time for both.

Letting your friends determine how you behave isnt good bro.

Let everyone you know who hassels you, that you want to be the best bodybuilder you can be. Shut them down straight away, then they have no reason to continue. If at a party, its either a shake or a proper meal, grow the balls and just do it, it gets easier over time.

I dont drink and i go out once a week and have a fuckin great time. Might go out twice if theres a gig on.

But as the first response said, just stand up for what it is you want to do.

My 20 year old female cousin gave me like a bottle of this shit when she came to visit. I was like wtf christy why are you carrying around a drug that is most commonly used as date rape?

Her reason was the same as yours haha.

Not to mention I believe GHB puts you into the deepest stages of sleep so you get more HGH release. I know a couple of guys who use it before bed like every night. Probably not the best idea but oh well.

Theres kind of a flip side to this. You could look back after a few years having gained 30 pounds instead of 20 and wish you had had a fuckin hell of a lot more fun :slight_smile:

Kidding aside, it comes down to what you want. theres nothing to “deal with”, you either go out all the time eat like shit and have bad gains. Do absolutely nothing but eat and train and enter a bodybuilding show.

Or…

Pick somewhere in-between those two things that you are comfortable with and do it.

A kid gave me a bunch one time cause I helped him out. I tried a water bottle cap’s full, and I felt like I had drank a 30 pack of beer all by myself. I laid there in bed in what was the most comfortable night I’ve ever had. Slept like a baby. Not sure if I’d want to be out in public like that though, maybe if I drank less.

you have to find a balance between the two. I mean most guys i know that are huge do have a social life, but there not the guys u find in a bar at 2am. Also i mean personally when your living the lifestyle, and you have a gf, a full time job what not. Even if your in college u seem to have alot less time to drink even if u wanted to. You could always learn to barely drink when you go out also.

Hot diggity-dog. I was just thinking about this. I just started college, and I’m hitting the gym with my roommate often. I’m not really a partying guy, and I doing the gasp long-distance thing, so all I really have is chilling, working out, eating and studying. Studying hasn’t come yet.

hahaha, dude the first semester was the best time of my life and yet the worst. I made the worst grades I have ever made in my life, got drunk more than I ever had in my life, and got with more women than I had ever before.

Kind of tough to bounce back from a 1.25 GPA lol. Everyone else in my 4 person suite made 0.0 GPA’s so I guess I got the best of it haha

I’m getting back into lifting, currently lifting 6 times a week and have gained 10 lbs my first month (freshman 15 is gonna be more like freshman 30). I pretty much just go out on friday and/or saturday nights. Just eat a lot before you go out. As a result, you won’t be drinking on an empty stomach, and you’ll still get a fair amount of calories. If nothing else, slip in another protein shake earlier in the day to make up for the eating you’ll miss.

Any kind of accomplishment-oriented activity takes priority over socializing.

Lol yeah not sure i’d use it every night but if I were to honestly compare GHB (in correct dosing) and alcool well… GHB > Alcool big time

if your ambition is to play WOW at the highest possible level, yes, although I would question the dignity of that particular ambition

I believe drinking will raise your T levels to a higher than normal amount the next morning. Every time I have worked out with a hangover, I have been stronger than usual. I’m sure it’s not good for recovery though.

The solution to this is to eat pork scratchings and drink Guinness when you’re out…

If you’re really serious about it, then you’re cheating yourself if you go out drinking for hours. If your friends can’t understand why you want to do this, then maybe you should find some better friends. You don’t have to go out and get drunk to be social. For me, it’s as much about not using alchohol as a crutch as it is about sticking to my diet.

I’m certainly not saying that bodybuilding should take precedence over school, but that HE should make the choice and follow what is important to him instead of looking back and seeing what a peer-pressured sheep he was.

Even when I caught the ‘iron-bug’, I kept it in perspective, classes were more important, and if I had to go hours without decent food, I’d just suck it up and realize that grades were the priority (of course in the early 90’s we didn’t have all these tastey protein bars and shakes damnit! -lol)

I believe it decreases T, but increases LH and E.
