It is soccer in general that you don’t like or soccer in Japan?

Anytime I go into a “sports bar” here or just about anywhere there is a professional sports game playing, it is either baseball, or, more recently, soccer, both of which I have no interest in. Granted, soccer seems to be a little more exciting than baseball, but whenever I watch it I feel like I’m being given blueballs. Lots and lots of buildup and almost never any delivery.
There is pretty much no such thing as (American) football here, or a basketball game with a little more action and gratification. It’s just one of the many things I am fed up with about this place
i feel the opposite way about soccer, however i think its important no matter which way you feel not to be like “yo soccer is mad dumb its retarded”, or “you’re nuts if you dont like soccer”. i understand peoples preferences to sports (personally i cant watch a baseball game on tv and cant stay past the 6th inning actually AT the game). there are certain undeniable aspects to soccer though that you have to respect. first off, there are no better athletes.
understand this will drive a lot of people on here nuts cause they cant dead or squat impressive numbers, but thats not all athleticism is about. these guys can run for days and i would love to see any of you run for 90 minutes non stop up and down that field (not really challenging anyone just trying to get across how the game really is). games like football which are supposed to have the truest “men” playing are nowhere near a test of being fit like soccer is. like i said plenty of american meat heads will crucify me on this point but its really just plain truth.
The other thing about soccer is the effects it has on people even beyond the field. theres a book written on what im speaking of called something like “how soccer affects the world”. the titles kind of weak but the book is really interesting.
it straight up explains how through soccer, things like equal rights have been won in oppressive nations, estranged groups in nations have come together, and shit like that. its hard to get shit like that living in america where the whole “its just a game” attitude is set forth, but in other countries it really plays a huge part of life.

Personally I think soccer is ghey, That being said I watched a fair amount of the first half of the Barcelona/ NY red bulls friendly yesterday. 15 min counts as a fair amount right? Shit I saw 3 goals. It was kind of like a car accident, I wasn’t watching to see the game but more to see how bad the red bulls were in comparison.
Me thinks the world should stop trying to push soccer on the US, so as not to wake the sleeping giant. Dwayne wade passes to kobe bryant to alex rodriguez to adrian peterson goooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaalllll!!!
I live in the U.S. but currently in Germany and all I get is how dumb US football is because we stop all the time
I just pose the question back to them about not stopping the clock when the ball goes out of bounds the players walk and take there time to get the ball or somebody falls and gingerly gets up while the clock is running. What the hell is up with that!? Then they say it is ok because they have OT. Well the amount of OT is just decided by the ref, why dont the jsut stop the clock in the first place instead of this OT shit. That is my only gripe with the sport
(american football) is awesome. I wish i lived and grew up over there so I could have played, But the breaks do get alittle tedius…I suppose thats mostly down to the commercialisation aspect of the game tho

Agreed. I can’t stand watching spectator sports. I find it mind-numbingly boring. I watch maybe a hour of mountain biking a MONTH but whenever I do I just feel an urge to get my arse off the couch and onto my bike.
