As the title states, I don’t know what channel it’s airing in English, not Spanish! (Verizon). I’ve looked through and have found the opening match, and the opening ceremony in Spanish, but no ceremony in English. Help would be greatly, greatly appreciated!!!
It says ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC are covering the games but I’m not sure about the opening ceremony. Also saw something about ITV but I don’t know what that is.
I haven’t watched soccer in English in a long time. And I don’t even speak Spanish, that’s just the only way for me to catch games lol
watch hockey man
soccer sucks
Itv is a British channel (im British, moved to USA in 2012)
I didn’t think there could be something less interesting than the actual games. I stand corrected.

Geez, Algeria with 29cents/litre for gasoline. And maybe a moment of silence for Italy with -2% population growth.

Why soccer doesn’t suck. [/quote]
I admire your effort but you are wrong.
Hot babes and thongs is NOT the reason soccer is awesome. that’s pathetic.
What’s the old line about baseball, “It’s boring until it’s not, and that’s what makes it great”? I think the same could be said for soccer.
Soccer moms love soccer.
Good enough reason for me not to like it.
Then again, most team sports are boring, unless you’re actually AT the game.

Football… er, American Football… Best team sport, and better on TV.

Lol.
This is why soccer loses all credibility to Americans. Although Lebron “Menstrual Cramp” James and the rest of the Heat are doing their part to get the NBA in the same camp.

Imo, it’s because americans suck at it - ofc they gonna hate. 'Merican Way.

Probably true. But you could also make a convincing case that we suck at it because we hate it. Lack of interest doesn’t motivate widespread participation so your selection pool is smaller.
Also, they make it very easy to hate with all the bitching and moaning. One of the few soccer games I have ever watched they raved about a guy playing through a jammed finger that caused him to miss 20 minutes, but he came back and how courageous that was.
Most bad ass soccer moment I have heard of was from a woman. Abby Wombach and the stapling moment because she didn’t want to leave the game.

It’s also because they prefer sports with more physical contact, I think. I bet they’d be all over football (soccer) if tackling was allowed. I’d probably like that myself, can you imagine, Ronaldo dribbling left and right then BAM there goes his vertebrae.
Throw some monster trucks in the midfield and maybe have the refs packing heat for when shit hits the fan and I’m sold.
Egregiously terrible call on the PK.
Makes you wonder if that ref will just so happen to be driving a gorgeous sports car some time in the relatively near future.

Is this turning into the official WC thread?
But yeah, you’re right.
I know it’s all just fun and games and it’s funny to say things like “Americans don’t like it cuz they suck at it” or “Americans would like soccer more if there were monster trucks and guns”. In reality though, the honest truth is simply that the vast majority of Americans just find soccer incredibly, mind-numbingly boring. That’s not a funny or interesting answer, but that’s all there really is to it.
