How about:
1/2/3 You can get you ass to work, but not much else
2/3/4 Not that strong, but I won’t call you weak
3/4/5 Pretty strong
4/5/6 Strong
5/6/7 Damn strong
and so on
Arguing about this is stupid.

we also don’t do the presidential or national fitness tests anymore. they are now considered tests of “athleticism”. now we have very watered down tests. for example, with the presidential test, a student has to do a pullup. this is a great skill to have. everyone should be able to pull themselves up to a bar. now we have the assisted pullup where a student lays on a mat under the bar and they only have to lift their upper body up to the bar.

I work at a class D, soon to be C private high school. They just did the test last week. I don’t believe it’s the same as when I was in school a decade ago, but it does exist.

The OP was just trying to establish a baseline for strength.
Were his numbers a bit low for most of the ACTIVE posters on here? Yes. Let’s not forget for every person with over 100+ posts there are 15 who have less than 3, and I am willing to bet a great majority of those posters would have trouble with 225x10.
Hell, I myself have never done more than 225x10 (albeit because I increase the weight passed 10, not reps)… but still.
I grow weary of all these “garrrgh I can lift 3x that, I guess I’m the man” comments.

Ah, ok. The way I read it made me think it wasn’t offered anymore.

Dude, please. Anyone in this forum who has been training for more than 3 years and can’t do that is sorely lacking and probably doesn’t have the genetics to make really big gains to start with.
They should understand that they are not what we are referring to when we discuss strength…because they aren’t strong and are at the very bottom in terms of genetic ability for this to start with.
Your post is a lot like logging into a basketball playing forum and making a post that most people can’t make a basket or do a decent jump shot with accuracy. I am sure they would ask why you continue making the game such a big part of your day if you aren’t very good at it at all.
I know that may suck, but it’s the truth.
I can overhead squat 0.68 times my bodyweight and do bulgarian split snatches with two 70lb kettleballs.
I can also climb over medium sized fences and drink a whole slush puppie in one.
Am I elite?
There has to be a “fitness” or " athletic training" forum somewhere on the internet.

if by Elite you mean “a blatant homosexual” then yes. You’re the most elite guy on this site

You came off a little ignorant man but the numbers you put up were pretty legit for an average joe in the street who experiments with only creatine and protein powders. When you start talking about people who do this for a living or people who experiment with steroids, growth hormones, and other “serious” products, these numbers just do not hold much value.
I’ve always wondered if you averaged everyone’s strength levels on T-Nation, how would they compare to the general public and the general weightlifting population (let’s say those that lift at least 3x week most weeks of the year).

The average strength of active T-Nation posters is way higher than the average weightlifting population. I’m weak on this site but as far as I can tell I’m stronger than everyone in the gym I go too. And that’s not a joke about having my own gym, I also go to a real gym on some days.

i think a lot of people would be amazed at what i can actually do outside of just lifting a bar. i’ve been a p.e. teacher for 11 years and everyday i’m in my gym or out on the field doing whatever activity the kids are doing.

Am I the only one who imagined MM absolutely destroying kids in Dodgeball? Lol[/quote]
Principal “So what happened here”
Jimmy “He Threw the ball really hard at me”
MM “Called Dodgeball, Hoss. YOU’RE supposed to move.”
Principal “But other children report that you threw another while jimmy was laying on the ground crying?”
MM “He was just being a little bitch.”
