It is amazing what we will go through TO GET WOOD eh?!
I know, that was bad… couldn’t resist… lol
LOL! Tell me about it… I’ve just spent the last hour catching up with the ‘Sexy Wives/GF’s’ thread… And it was much more enjoyable than moving wood! LOL!
One of the advantages of getting older is you don’t have to do what other people tell to do. Glad you’re up and about.
You do realize I’ll have to add getting wood into the adventures of Mr X now?
Actually went to the gym for a light workout yesterday, gawd it felt good!
Started off with a little speed work on the bench:
BB Bench
145#X12
145#X12
155#x10
Didn’t go any higher on weight, since I had absolutely no leg stability… last thing I want is to tweak my back due to poor form, especially when I’m on light weights.
Then I moved over to the cable crossover and had some fun there:
70#x12
90#x10
90#x10
100#x10
90#x7 … yeah, baby! Feel the BURN!
Then I hobbled my way over to the preacher curl set-up and started loading on some plates…
45#x12
70#x10
95#x7
105#x3 (tried for 4, but got halfway up and just wouldn’t move anymore!)
45#x12 (I love burning out the muscles on the final set, the pump is soooo good!)
So I thought I would try some Seated OVHD BB Press next:
115#x5x3 Just couldn’t get in the groove on these…
Finished off the day with some Ground Base High Pulls:
25#(x2)x10
35#(x2)x10x2
25#x10
Actually with getting the blood flowing, the knee felt pretty good! And the nurse called yesterday and said I could start doing ‘isometric quad squeezes’ and ‘straight leg raises’ while sitting on the edge of the seat of a straight back chair… I just smiled and told her that I would be sure to do my exercises! LOL! I’m not gonna be ‘stoopid’, but I’m not going to baby it, either.
So, stay out of the Mosh-pit, but Keep On Rockin’!
It’s been a quiet week for me… Last week (Tuesday) I took the wife away for the rest of week, just to get away. No gym calling either one of us (well, it called… but we were too far away to answer!) Then Sunday I flew to Eastern Washington to visit my Mom (kind of a Mothers Day gift), and I’ll be heading back home tomorrow. Yesterday I was getting really antsy after sitting in front of a computer for a number of hours (much easier being the family computer repairman in person) so I walked to my favorite General Store (the kind of place, that if you dig deep enough, you’ll find whatever your looking for… a real messy place… but fun). It was about 2 miles each way, and I made the round trip, including shopping, in about an hour. The knee was tired but not really sore after I finished the walk, last night it was stiff and sore, but not anything I was concerned about. I mean really, what did I expect, I had surgery 11 days prior… LOL!
Now when I get back, I will be able to start training again with focus… can’t put a lot of stress on the knee yet (like none), but I think I can start doing light weight exercises on that leg.
So Keep on Rockin’ and I will train vicariously through the rest of y’all.
Yeah, yeah… call me a slacker… and I am! LOL! As I’m kicked back here, sucking back a 16 ounce brewski…
But I’m gonna be making up for it here in a few days…
It will be a sacrifice, the blood/sweat/tears will flow, women will weep and grown men will gnash their teeth, but I WILL persevere… I will quit drinking beer.
(Or at least as much beer as I have been, lately… LOL)
Thanks DZ!
I can hardly wait to get going on my training again. It’s kind of hard to be going for my year end goals for the ‘big 3’ (squat-400/DL-450/Bench-300) with a bum leg! Jeeze, I mean, I can’t even get set for a decent bench with the way my knee is right now. I can’t get it tucked under me and get the support I need yet, it sucks! And if I try and do a squat, even with body weight only, it’s too much internal pressure… So I am fully aware it’s gonna take time, but damn, I’m impatient. But hey, I’m not even released for return to work yet, so what makes me think I can train yet… LOL!

Hey Dude, I had three months off work when I ruptured my bicep, so I hung out at the gym everyday ridin’ the bike, and working legs whatever I could do. Just don’t do anything to re-injure it man, you’ll regret that!
Made it in for a workout this morning… feeling ok… might be pushing it just a little bit, I think some of the surrounding tissue and ligaments may be staging a revolt since I’m more than a little sore today. Only doing low impact with the legs, but needed to push upper body a bit. Only did 4 different exercises, but I hit chest, shoulders, back and arms.
Bench Press @
110#x10
130x10
160x10
180x5
T-bar Row @
90#x10
100x10
110x7
90x6
45x10
Seated OVHD DB Press @ (x2)
35#x10
37.5x10
40x10
45x10
50x6 (should have gotten 10, but I was hearing a story being told beside me and I started laughing… really hard to lift and laugh at the same time… )
BB Curl @ 70#x10 x3 sets.
Got a phone call from Dr’s office today, Doc wants to see me June 19, and they told me with what I had done, I need to be off work at least 4 weeks… I guess with the extra work done and the amount of soft arthritic cartilage he had to remove, he doesn’t want me at work stressing it. Need to get on the elliptical (approved by nurse) and start that.
bunny7568 wrote:
Hmmm… 4 weeks off eh? Lotsa fishin’, liftin’ and girl watchin’ to be done!
Stay away from the beer! (Well, seriously… ration it then!)
LOL! We need it to get a little warmer around here, then the girl watchin’ will be worth-while!
And the beer??? I call it ‘Carb Loading’…
And the lifting is a given!
Didn’t do yoga today, our niece from OK City was leaving this morning to head back to Spokane, and then my nephew needed a ride to work. And I needed to get dog food before the shop closed, but I did go and have a decent workout.
Sometimes normal life takes precedents… LOL
I tried doing single leg raises with virtually no weight on the right leg. It felt fine, but my wife jumped my case so bad I will not be doing them again…
Right Leg
20#x10x4
Left Leg
70#x10x3
70#x8x1
OK, now for the real workout…
Ab work: Decline speed crunches with an elastic band for resistance
20 reps x 4 sets
RDL’s
45#x10x1
115#x10x3
Calf presses - single leg
R/L
70#x10x4
Chins
BWx5x4
Cable Crossovers
70#x10
80#x10
90#x10
100#x10
Pullovers
100#x10
110#x10
120#x10
then I went and did 30 minutes of cardio on my favorite torture device, the AMT.
Started the day with my favorite torture device, the AMT cardio machine. I can be dry as a desert when I begin, but look like I’ve had a bucket of water dumped on me when I’m finished… and this is after 30 minutes!
Smith Machine Squats
50#x10x4 (baby weights… little by little!)
Decline Bench Speed Crunchs with an elastic band for resistance
25x4
Dips
25#x10x2
25#x7x1
BWx7x1 (for some reason I burned out quick on these…)
All in all a good work out.
I was able to convince the Occupational Health facility personnel to schedule me for a return to work evaluation on June 9th, and then I got my Dr. to give me a release to return to work effective June 6th, and if I do get released on the 9th, I will still be on vacation for that week, but will get my full pay $$$$$ (a good thing!), so I will have been off work 5 weeks. I had the Dr.'s office tell me that since I was in such good physical condition, they didn’t have any problem with releasing me before Dr. Blackstone actually see’s me on the 19th. It was a good day! LOL!

Way to go mysterious one. Take it easy on the leg though. You doing any specific grip work?
You mean other than trying to hold on for dear life and try not to drop it on my toes??? Uh… no. LOL!
I know I should start doing plate grips, but I just haven’t done it. Got any better ideas? I just kinda figured I would try and tough it out… not the best plan??? (J/K!)
And yeah, I’m taking it slow with the knee; light weights, high reps, not going too deep… (of course it’s probably not what the Dr’s office think I’m doing!).
