That’s right. 6.8 reps on the bench. Even though I told the spotter “Don’t touch the bar unless I ask you to”, he touched it at the top of lockout. He was a nice kid, so fuck it. It’s funny that he was surprised I was lifting so much. I guess chubby old men aren’t supposed to lift more than a buck 85 lol.

Congrats on the bench pr man. 340’s no joke. How the knees feeling?
Thanks man. I’ve been on a roll with the bench after stagnating for months.
I’m going to see the surgeon to get it eval’d again in the next 2 weeks. After playing a couple 3 on 3’s a few weeks ago it flared up big time but is better now. The college kids play at work every day on my lunch break so it’s hard to fight the urge when I pass the courts on the way to the weight room.

Shit brother, if you feel like tossing some of that roll my way I’ll take it. What specifically hurts in the knee? Obviously not a doc but I have a ton of experience with busted knees. Your j looks smooth man, but you definitely drift left. You pick that up playing bigger cats when you were younger or did it just happen?

The front bottom part of the knee cap. They say it might be the screw which holds the ACL to the bone. It should dissolve soon.
I’ve always jumped pretty high on my jump shot (as taught by my HS coach) and would always try to land in the same exact spot. The drifting to the left is new. I think it’s a combo of an awkward jump and just not practicing in a long while. I’m attempting to shift my game to more outside shots and hi/low post. It used to be mostly taking to the hole and postup.

340 is nice man. Good stuff
Thanks dude. I’m hoping for 365 by July 1st which would mark 3 years of weight training. The original goal was 405 in 3 years but I lost over 9 months of progress because of the knee surgery.
You’re still making some beastly progress even with a fucked knee man, its impressive. How are the front squats feeling? I finally hit 315 for 5 on them. With two good knees haha

Thanks alot. I had to put front squats on hold. My lower back is really fucked up right now and it gives out before my legs. My back can’t support enough to weight to stimulate my legs. I think my last lift was 195 and my legs didn’t get much out of it. Replacing them with Bulgarian split squats. I’ll come back to them after I sort my back out.
Lat pulldowns: 100x8 120x8 140x6 160x6 180x6
LF row machine: 150x8 170x6 190x6
1 arm seated cable rows: 4 sets
seated machine curls: stopped on 2nd set due to random pain in left hand.
5 minutes on bike
Shitty workout. I felt so flat and tired. I partied in Atlantic City this weekend and the effects have spilled over into the week. Going to have an intense workout tomorrow to make up for it.
Bench Press: 225x5 255x5 270x3 290x3 305x3 PR by 2 reps
Incline DB Press: 55x8 55x8 75x8
DB Flies 40lbs for 3 sets. Very light and controlled.
Speedbag for 5 minutes.
The bar is 35 lbs so 3 PPS is 305.
My left hand got a sharp pain by the thumb for some reason since yesterday so I didn’t push the bench. I could’ve easily gotten another rep but it might have compromised my hand if my form got sloppy.
I tried these dumbbell hooks. Not sure I like them right now. It’s just so awkward. I usually incline 110 on the dumbbells at the gym but these just feel funny. You can see it in the video. I’m going to keep adding 5 lbs a workout until I get used to them.
I’m doing a bench only meet in May so I’m trying to work on paused bench. I did one meet before in December 2009 and my best lift was 275. 315 paused was actually surprisingly smooth. My coworker issued the bench command and that 1 second felt like 3. I wish I had a video.
DB Bench is a bitch. I’ve got a busted knee and a busted back. It really is a project getting those bells in place. I swear I’m good for 120x5 if someone gave me a handoff, but I workout with a bunch of 150 lb college kids at work so it ain’t gonna happen.
Shot some hoops today with my new brace. I can’t believe the insurance company got billed $1,200 for it. Worked on my jumper which sucks right now and trying to get some spring back into my legs. I used to hit the rim on my finger rolls. Not anymore…

daaaaaaaaang! $1,200 for a brace? good thing you’ve got insurance! Looks like you were close to the rim on that lay up? How does it feel jumping with that brace on?

Yeah , it’s nuts. I saw the bills for the surgery too. Close to $60,000 total.
I felt a couple inches away but was hoping the video would give me an objective view. I’ve never played ball heavier than 220 and I’m about 245 now so that’s also a factor.
I’ll know if the brace worked tomorrow. It didn’t feel much different, but without the brace all those little stabilizer muscles and ligaments flare up the next day.
