Sounds like a good plan! (Not that I know anything about how to prepare for a meet)

Can’t wait to hear how it turns out![/quote]

Agreed!

I also always find it quite interesting to hear how athletes prepare for big meets and things like that - everything from what types of workouts people do before performing, to what they eat and even little esoteric rituals (I always have shaved legs before games - lol!).

Hahaha, you wouldn’t believe the rituals I’ve developed. Before every meet: get a haircut, trim nails, shave, wear the same panties, wear the same warmups, only take baths, same food/water/supplement schedule the week before, a snickers bar the night before, same food/drink at the meet (I even flew it in my checked luggage when I went to Miami because it was cheaper than getting a cab to a Miami grocery store), etc.

I didn’t mean to develop rituals, it just happened.

Yes, I agree. I’m a bit superstitious about certain things. And like PMPM said, rarely do we plan such rituals. They just take hold. Love the new pic, PMPM!

Went into the gym today and did some lower body circuit accessory work. Last heavy lifting session will be Monday.

you’re going to be so awesome next saturday!
… i kinda just wish it was now…get the good , bad, or the ugly over with…blah!!

Ahh, the waiting is the hardest part. I seem to burn through so many calories the week before a meet . . . nerves, I guess.

Going to deadlift today. Relatively light and raw. Maybe with my purple belt, just so I can look stylin’. Last DL pulls before “the reckoning.”

No lifting this weekend.

You are really making me want a stylin’ purple belt.

Kimba, I’m in love with my new belt.

Did some DL pulls today. Worked up to raw singles at 200, 210, 215 and called it quits. Then since I was training at a Rec Center that has no pullup bar, I did chins from the Smith bar. Whoever heard of a gym with nowhere to do chins?

Went rock climbing (well, scrambling) with my husband today. In my eternal quest to build a bigger bench, I’m giving this sport a try. While hanging from a boulder, I decided to drop my feet and just see if I could pull my body up (pullup-style).

See, I’ve been doing chins for awhile and can bang off quite a few. But . . . I’ve never tried a true pullup with a pronated grip. Damn if I wasn’t able to do three full-body stretch pullups from a fingertip grip on a rock. I’m proud and can’t wait to try these from a bar in the gym.

A new goal: 10 pullups

Damn is right! That’s really impressive.

HAHA! I’m glad that I’m not alone with the pre-game rituals! And PMPM, that my friend, is serious dedication.

Sweet on the pullup challenge! I’m with you on the 10 pullup goal and have thus coined this year as “10 in 2010” or interchangely, “the year of the pullup”. It helps if you say, “pullups will be my bitch” a la Kimba.

Snap you are seriously strong, so you’ll reach that goal in no time!

3 pullups from fingertips on rocks? Those 10 pullups shouldn’t be that far away! During pullups and chins I tend to draw my knees in towards my stomach (when not using bands of course) anybody think that’s holding me back or not making a shitty difference?? just wonderin.

When I do chins, I cross my legs at the ankle and bend my legs slightly up behind me. Never tried pulling my knees up toward my stomach. Not sure how that would change things. I’ll give it a try tomorrow and see what I find. I’m also going to try some pullups. But I will have to wait until after practicing my meet attempts for both squat and bench. So I might be a bit fatigued.

Tomorrow is my last lifting day before the meet. It really kind of sucks because I’m always nervous all week and yet can’t go burn off the energy with the weights. I’ll be llving vicariously through everyone else’s logs.

Yeah baby! That’s the way to dominate!

My stupid tweaked left wrist won’t let me work on my pronated grip pullups quite yet (maybe soon) but I’ll join you on that 10 pullup goal.

Practiced bench and squat attempts for the meet today. Wish I could just jump to the DL portion of the meet. Never did get around to the pullups.

Yesterday I went roller skating with my kids at one of those chain rinks. Damn, was that a blast to speed around to all that fun hip hop music. They had races based on age. I was waiting around for the 40+ race until I realized the highest age group was 17+. How funny is that? Me and a bunch of high school seniors racing around the rink.

ooh! I was used to go skating all the time growing up…when they actually had roller skates! :stuck_out_tongue: Thats one thing I haven’t done with my oldest just yet…

When I figured skated (gave it up five years ago) this exact thing would happen to me all the time. Better to be the oldest kid having fun, then sitting on the sidelines with the bored parents!

Ahh Kimba. I live about three miles from what is one of the largest maintained outdoor ice skating rinks. Doing laps there is serious cardio.

As a really random aside, my new chickens are laying blue eggs.

Watching the Olympics made me want to learn to speed skate. Doing the figure skating tricks is just too risky for me at this point, but I’m always up for going fast!

Food at its freshest. Eggs are delicious!

Wait, the one with the Zamboni last week? I thought you were a flatlander.

Nah . . . I live at elevation 7,290. My avatar photo is taken in my backyard.

Am I the only one questioning blue eggs here? Of course as a city girl maybe my concept of milk-white eggs is skewed.
