Snapper's Strength Sojourn

miss snapper, very impressive. great to see you.

on the rotator cuff, i have same issue off and on. there are some exercises (that i will have to go find a link for, perhaps) to help the issue. have you tried searching for any info/exercises to help? i hope you get some relief, i know exactly how annoying it is.

can’t wait to see what you do in your meet!

I think Cressey has an article called the rotator cuff conundrum? Google that.

Last try to load this 285-lb. vid.

Yes, Alisa, my best raw meet DL is 214.5 lb. I haven’t tested my raw max in awhile since I’ve been practicing with gear lately. In these vids, the barbell is suspended from bands, which GREATLY aids the bar in springing off the floor, RBlue. I’m only holding the full weight at lockout.

I will research the rotator cuff conundrum, PMPM. And it IS a conundrum, since it has felt A-ok today for no particular reason.

I HIGHLY recommend the tapered belt, Kimba. After using it today, I realize how much my full-size one compresses me and maybe even hinders me?

Freaking awesome vid! And great avi too!! Thanks for that.

Just some accessory work.

Asked nicely if the gym would consider getting paper towels for the bathroom since no one wants to stand waiting for the one hand dryer that consistently works. Was emphatically told “no,” even though paper towel dispensers are located all over the gym. Big box gyms. I’m with Bobbi on this one.

shoot that’s ridiculous.

My gripe with my gym: no jump ropes allowed. (Why? Does jumping damage the floor? I’ll never know.)

awesome vid snap!

K, where do you train? I live up north but maybe we can train together ever so often. I might steal your coach occasionally for some shirt work before Women’s Nationals if I decide to go.

sweet sassy mollassy! :stuck_out_tongue: excellent work…

Would love to train with you sometime, PMPM! I could learn much from you. I have trained with the trio in Dumont and found it very educational. May try to train with them more this summer when R is gone.

R & I train at 24 Hour at Kipling/Bowles. On heavy DL days, we go to the 24 Hour at County Line/Quebec to take advantage of the round weights. But that gym is soon closing. May need to go to RMLC on occasion even tho it’s a super long ass drive for me.

What’s your work schedule like?

Thanks, mom-in-MD. I always think of you as mom-in-HD after Brute typed that!

I work 8-5ish, sometimes later, M-F. For a while I was benching at the RMLC on Friday nights, getting some advice from D&J. Vasil and the RMLC boys deadlift that night, so the benches in that back room are free but there are plenty of spotters.

x2

Awesome vid! I’m seriously envious (I’ve had to curtail my deadlifting activities due to back pain, grrr).
I’m a member of the busted rotator cuff club as well - doing Cressey’s scap work definitely help, as does benching Dave Tate-style. (There’s a vid on here somewhere). Watching that helped me a lot - I didn’t know about keeping my scaps retracted during bench, but it makes a world of difference.

Thanks for all the kind comments regarding the DL vids.

Let’s see. I spent Monday practicing my squat attempts for the meet. Was able to get them all. Peaked at a weight that is either slightly higher or slightly lower than what my third attempt will be.

Like Brute, I’m nervous. Ten days away. I’m, umm, laying low this week. May do some lower body circuits tomorrow. Yoga perhaps this weekend. Then some light squat and bench on Monday and call it good. Trying to weigh in at the top of the weight class this meet rather than smack dab in the middle. The extra poundage should help with leverage.

best of luck at the meet!

Sounds like a good plan! (Not that I know anything about how to prepare for a meet)

Can’t wait to hear how it turns out!

Agreed!

I also always find it quite interesting to hear how athletes prepare for big meets and things like that - everything from what types of workouts people do before performing, to what they eat and even little esoteric rituals (I always have shaved legs before games - lol!).

Good luck!
