Snap Back

Hey snapper - have you received any info on the weigh-in times and what time the meet starts? [/quote]
Weigh-in at 8 am. Lifting starts at 10 am.

I sure hope your back permits you to compete. You’ve worked so hard, George, and made great gains.

word! so weight in is at 8 for us girlie’s too? MMM going to need coffee…

Your coach looks like a 71 year (big) old teddy bear!

I can tell from that squat video that you guys have a great relationship. Awesome.

The adrenaline of competition is going to make that 153 fly up for you at the meet.

Brutus: you might want to check. Depending on how the meet is structured, we’ll either all weigh in at 8 am or there will be separate sessions and a second weigh-in later. I don’t know whether we’ll be in the same flight/session with the difference in weight classes. Let me know what you find out.

Today’s training.

Bench Platform Practice . . . all with commands

8/45
5/50
1/55 (first attempt)
1/66 (second attempt)
1/77 (third attempt)

No trouble with any of these. The 77 lb. went up faster this week than last. I still struggle with uneven extension. The left side flies up and the right side really lags. Feels better every week, though.

For fun:
3/75
2/75

I should mention that while my numbers are really low because of my recent surgery, I’ve never been much of a bencher. I’ve done four meets and gone 6/12 in bench. I tend to really underperform with this lift. I’ve never even hit a bodyweight bench in a shirt at a meet even though there was a time where I was consistently able to do so in the gym. So even though I did a triple today just two pounds below what will be my max attempt, I have no desire to up the weights. I just want to get all three and get off the platform.

I followed up the flat bench with bentover BB row, bentover rear delt machine, bicep curl, tricep pushdown, and chins.

The highlight was 3 x 7 chins. I’m not even really training these right now, but should be able to get 10 by year’s end without any problem. I’ll video it when I do.

I’d wager that there will be one session, with 2-3 flights on Saturday, and the same for Sunday. Let me know if you hear anything different.

tear it up this weekend

have a great meet

yeah for chins and bench

It just wasn’t that long ago that you were concerned about benching just the bar. What a difference a few months made here!

ha ha! so i guess that’s that!

Best of luck for a outstanding meet…you have displayed great resolve since your return! And if your husband shoots an Elk, I call dibbs on some Elk jerky!

Have a great meet this weekend. Do plenty of carbo loading tomorrow.

Sorry folks. But the meet is December 4. I’ve still got ten days.

So hold those well wishes.

Nice work snap…you’re going to do well, you’ve been working very very hard. Wouldn’t worry too much about the bench, your other lifts more than compensate.

9 days out. My pre-meet got all f’d up–I hope yours is going better.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving.

Nice benching. I’m sure you’ll do very well in your meet.

kp,

Good luck this weekend, have fun and pick up heavy things.

Got your openers picked yet?

Today’s training:

DL Platform Practice
5/115
3/135
3/155
2/175
1/188
1/198
1/205

Then
2/5/135

All the singles went up pretty fast.

Joe: Yep, I have my openers picked and then some. I pretty much know what every attempt will be except for my final DL. My goal is to go 9 for 9 since I consider this a practice meet, a progress meet.

205 is awesome! I’ll be chasing that one for a long while, no doubt at the same time you are sprinting further ahead.
