Snap Back

I’m so excited to get to lift with you! We might be in different flights, if they do it like they did last year. Not sure if Brute will be in A or B.

wee snapper is awesome

I’ll be there all day but will be the first lifter in flight A for sure since I’m opening with such huge numbers [heavy sarcasm]. I really don’t care, though, and just can’t wait to get on the platform. I’m so, so grateful that I’ll be competing six months sooner than everyone told me I would.

Heading off to DL now and am incredibly nervous since this is only the third time I’ve pulled singles since last March and the last time to DL before the platform.

Good luck with the DLing. I’m squatting in 3 days and I’m already nervous.

Happy belated anniversary. I guess a lot of really great stuff happened on that day

Your daughter’s floor routine looked good. Her back handspring looked like nothing. I always found it to be a scary maneuver.

I can’t wait to see how all you ladies do at the meet.

Hot springs were FABULOUS.

2.5 weeks till the meet. Thanks for all the cheerleading and well wishes. It means so much to me.

Today’s training.

Bench
8/45
5/55
5/62
5/67
3/72
2/75
1/77
2/75

Then had to shirt and help my coach. Took awhile.

Then moved on to Smolov Week 3, Day 1

Somewhat disastrous. By this time, I’d already been in the gym two hours.

Squat
8/45
5/75
3/95
3/110
The plan was 7 sets of 5 at 125. But here’s what I got:
4/5/125
4/125 Hard crash on the fifth rep. And my coach said “you’re done.”

My form was not so great today. My coach said I was 6 inches below parallel on every rep with no pop outta the hole and my chest folding up on the ascent.

I’ll spend the next ten days practicing triples, doubles, and meet attempts for squat. In other words, I’m bailing on the last two training days of Smolov. I’ll deadlift once more. Try to get close to 2x bodyweight.

Gotta catch up on everyone’s logs.

Now is the time to bail on Smolov. Singles and doubles to your opener(ish) is what I’d be doing. I don’t even pull at all from two weeks out.

Tell the daughter great job from me .

Cool vid!

yei!! we’re lifting together! and b? what does that mean? do they divide up the wt classes?:{ oh well! its at RMLC right? i can’t miss you :)!

You won’t miss me, Brute.

Yesterday was not such a great training day. Did a few sets/reps and then set up to pull what I thought might be my opener for DL for the meet. I couldn’t even break it off the floor. Really messed with my confidence at that moment. So I’ll [obviously] be re-evaluating my numbers for the meet. Alas, I have to remind myself that the whole point of doing this meet is to just show that I’m coming back. And it’s important for me to not lose sight of that.

You know as well as I that one day does not tell the tale! Give it two days and knock 10-20 off the bar… Take that one for your second attempt.

Happy belated anniversary.
Very talented daughter.
Sounds like a great time being able to compete in the same venue as people you talk to on here.

Yeah, there are a number of us who compete together. And it is such a privilege to lift with such talented people (PMPM and Brute of the female inclination).

Speaking of meets, I went to watch a NASA meet for the first time yesterday. It seemed so different than USAPL. So much more casual. People used the platform to warm up. I’ve never seen that before. Also, the meet started with a curl contest. Interesting. And I can’t forget the monolift. I’ve never seen one in person before. And no “start” command for the bench. A number of benchers didn’t even start with locked elbows. Guess that doesn’t matter? And knee wraps are still considered “raw.” I get a decent gain from wraps so my “raw” squat number would be much higher in a NASA meet. And from a girlie standpoint, some women had some crazy-fun singlets with wacko designs. I think USAPL frowns on that stuff.

On the training front, I did some mellow upper body work with DBs at home tonight and plan to practice squat attempts tomorrow. Like I said, I gotta pick reasonable numbers and not let my ego take over for all my lifts.

I gather from a couple of the guys that compete CPF that our IPF affiliated meets are like being in a church compared to theirs. I confess I’ve looked at their numbers and have been tempted to compete. There aren’t a ton of women in that federation but many of them are pretty good.

I can’t wait to see how you three ladies make out at the meet.

It is fun to go to other meets and see what they judge by. I have been to some open meets where you can bounce the weight off your chest and others where they hold you on the chest for a good 5 seconds before giving you the press command.

Yep Nasa and Usapl are a little different. sounds like the judging was alittle loose to me.

Im so excitied for you getting back on the platform after all the work youve put in to get the shoulder going. I could pee myself. By the way I still got the cheerleader outfit on.

I think you are going to do great at teh meet and while you are going just for the experience I bet you’ll exceed your expectations.

Meaning that you will let your ego take over for SOME of your lifts?

Just messing with ya…

Snapper we are going to have a great time–> no matter what we do! I’m disappointed with my numbers too…just means the next one will be that much better. also, being at the meet might bring out the nitro turbo power on the platform.
