Snack Recommendations for Young Dad

Snack Recommendations for Young Dad

Baby 2 is coming in the next couple days, which is going to make eating well trickier.

I’m looking for low-fuss, healthy snack recommendations (for me).

Thanks in advance.

Hard boiled eggs

Cottage cheese/greek yogurt

Pemmican

Biltong

Congratulations!

I’ve had two and my list is usually,

Beef jerkey
Flax seed crackers
Pistachios
Olives
Water
Multivitamins
Adarafinil

Usually gets me through a week.

But you know what I actually find useful?

A gym bag for her including,
2 changes of comfortable clothes
A water bottle
Clean socks
Massage oil
Extra pillows and a blanket
Some hairbands or ponytail holders
A nice looking but comfortable robe/outfit
to get in the car and drive home
Stock the fridge with what ever the fuck she wants
Insurance cards, pens, chargers, and fully charged phones
A clean house to come back to

Hows she supposed to clean when she’s delivering a baby?

I mean, at least let her get back home before making her start the laundry. Yeesh.

Are we talking in the hospital? Nothing funnier than ordering pizza. Much like growing our muscles, we develop our marriages by introducing challenges.

Somewhat in seriousness, what timeframe and conditions are we talking? Like that first couple weeks when you’re not sleeping anyway? Coffee, water, fruit and jerky come to my mind.

Both of my kids were c-sections and had to be in the nicu, so I just threw money at cleaning services.

I am terrible with laundry. When I travel I shop at goodwill and just discard stuff.

I need an adult to take over.

Yeah, I’m thinking the first year or so – as long as I’ll be doing things with one hand, like typing this

Ever considered dropping it off and having it done for you? I haven’t but have entertained the thought.

It’s only for overseas travel really. Then the discarded clothes free up room in my suitcase for gifts or any other items I buy.

Speaking of babies and travel, if you can take mom on a trip during maternity leave, 6 weeks after is perfect. Mom is feeling recovered, you get to treat her, and at that age our fuck trophies are surprisingly portable. And don’t require you to pay for an additional ticket.

I did this regularly when I didn’t have a washer and dryer in a condo we were living in part time. It was great.

Any protein bar recommendations? I know some look down on bars but I’m a fan.

While we await the return of Finibars, I dig the spirit of the Ketobrick and the Carnivore bar

In a pinch I like the RX Bars. Not the highest protein content though.

This should be described as a “fat” bar, not a protein bar.

Fair point. Fixated on “bar” and “clean ingredients”.

Why someone can’t make a true protein bar (low carb and low fat) with ingredients that I can easily recognize is something I don’t really understand. Seems like there’d be a market for such a bar.

Isn’t that just beef jerky?

Pemmican bars might work also.

They tend to keep the fats, no?
