Well I’ll give you another heads up big Dan, I put nearly a hundred fucking pounds on my squat with smolov. I’m sure I started my initial max too low, so that’s probably cheating the numbers somewhat, but nevertheless, my squat finished in the high 400’s, and I sure as shit couldn’t do that before.
Achilles put 35 pounds on his. When taken in the context that he was starting at nearly 600, I hope you appreciate how ridiculous that is. A lot of people work for YEARS to get 35 pounds on their squat once they’re at that high of a weight.
So yeah, it could also go BETTER than you planned.
I am no programming expert, but the idea of combining three different strength programs seems…asinine! I understand if there is a one lift loading paramters template (say, coan/phillipi deadlift is only 1 day/week) combined with something similar, but whole different programs…together…really?
Peeps need to realize that you can’t devote 101% to, say, squat, doing it 4 times a week and then thing they can run a bench specialization program alongside it and, oh why not, tack along another deadlift day? The coaches who wrote that original shit programmed everything with specific purpose in mind, not considering you would try to be jack of all trades and specalize in everything and use yoru recovery resources for, gasp, another program.
To be fair, people can do anything they want, but please don’t blast a program cause you failed at it, all-the-while not realizing that you were running a dozen other programs alongside it…

Current format - 5/3/1 for squats is 1 day/week and Mag-Ort for deads is 1 day/week, smolov jr for bench is 4 days/week but i dont do any other pressing. when i do smolov for squats i wont deadlift…make sure you read everything thoroughly…
Anyway - decided on Smolov for Squats, Smolov Jr. for Bench and Weighted Chins every day. After the Base Mesocycle I’ll do Sheiko 29-37-32 which should take me to my next meet.

5/3/1 isn’t my style, its good for squats/deads but not for bench (for me at least, no disrespect to JW) Like I said, i’m running Jr. for bench from now until the meet, would it be smart to run it for 6 straight cycles?[/quote]
Why do you feel 531 wasn’t good for your bench? Is it that you need more frequency throughout the week with that specific lift?

Pretty much, but also i feel that multiple top sets is better that one all-out top set, and after my first cycle of smolov jr for bench i went from an ugly unbalanced slow 305 pause rep to a quick easy even 315 pause. No doubt 5/3/1 is great for long-term success but for a competitive power-lifter i don’t think it is as good for gains. Just a personal opinion, not necessarily a fact.
