Thanks stu!
I appreciate your endorsement of my sensibility and levelheadedness.
This site seems to have been overrun by trolls lately.
It’s a shame.
I will help keep up the good fight!

Warning, wine cooler inspired rant ahead:

When I moved away from home and my fathers gym I bounced around looking for gyms.
I tried everything from Ballys to 24 Hour to Golds and finally settled into a very small, hole in the wall local place called Natiunic O.R.N. Fitness.
The atmosphere was intense!
Loads of serious lifters doing their thing, it was great.
I became friends with one of the guys who worked the front gate turnstyle thing and we became lifting partners.
We hit the gym hard!
We crushed workouts, joked about small guys wearing sweatshirts to the gym and occasionally splurged on a few McDoubles (if it fits your macros remember?)
Things were going great, I loved going to NU Fitness (that’s what locals called it) and I was making great progress.
One day I went in for my normal workout and my lifting partner was working the front deal that day.
We joked around a little bit and then I handed him my keys with my scannable pass attached.
He scanned it and got a funny look on his face.
After a few more scans he explained that my pass had expired and was no good.
I had forgotten to renew my membership and they were no longer accepting members!
I tried to talk to him but there but there was no getting in.
Next thing I know he yanks my gym pass off my key ring, reaches into his pocket, puss out a lighter and burns my gym pass.
I couldn’t believe it.
Burned my gym pass right before my eyes, I was crushed.
It was a Terrible day and even now I haven’t found a gym that could compare.
That place was a true temple of iron.
I thought my old WO partner was my bro but I guess not.
I always suspected that he stole $20 from me one time?

Moral of this rant:
A good gym and a good lifting partner (until they burn your gym pass) go a long way.
Woah, that is COLD…

SmashinWeights, did you ever use creatine in the past? IDK why but I get the feeling that creatine stops working past a certain point…?? Quite a few big guys I’ve spoken to say they don’t use it anymore…

I did and I don’t anymore.
I honestly never noticed much of a difference between being “on” (lol) the creatine and not using it.
I remember when I first tried it in high school and I thought it was some wonder drug ha ha
It was a cherry flavored liquid that you used a dropper for and would hold it under your tongue, I felt so bad ass lol
I tried powders, monohydrate, front loading, putting it in your sock, everything.
You name it I probably tried it.
I just never noticed a difference so I figured why keep using it?
The only thing I noticed was neck cramping.
Even when I drank a gallon+ a day I would still get gnarly cramps in my neck.
It was horrible and whenever I got one I looked like such a dork.
I’m sure anyone who saw thought there was something seriously wrong with me.

This thread delivers so far. Loving the fun anecdotes SW!

Great work Smash! Very inspiring. Since you follow IIFYM, may I ask what macros you shoot for when bulking/cutting?

I don’tike the terms bulk or cut.
I like to think of myself in a constant state of cultivating mass with periods where fat gain is more or less acceptable
I stick to nutritional principle basics.
These are basic guidelines
12-14 calories per pound when leaning up
15-17 calories per pound when worrying less about a little fat
Gaining at 230 would be a baseline of 3,500-3,900 calories
Tightening up at 230 is a baseline of 2,800-3,200
I always shoot for 1.5 grams of protein per pound and I prefer I higher fat to carbs ratio

I don’t care what anyone says “bulking” implies a good amount of fat gain.
Fat gain that is simply non a necessity.

Loving the thread and you are now one of my favourite posters SW, I have lol’d at a few of your posts so far

Nice thread esp. The greek mythology inspiration

At one point I felt like lifting was taking up TOO much of my time.
I decided that I would hold out for a set peroid of time.
I planned to “abstain”, if you will, so I signed a contract, in front of God and Men to stay pure.
A weightlifting born again “virgin.”
I strapped on my weightlifting chastity belt and locked it down.
I had to test what was greater, my addiction to iron or my will power?
Guess what?
Will power.
Exactly! I try not to take myself too seriously. Life is easier that way.
