Sleep Problems, Help Needed

I’m up at 12 am right now, having a grand old time, trying to get to sleep, but im unable to for the billionith time. It’s getting to the point where I hate going to sleep, because I know I will just lay there for an hour or more waiting to fall asleep. It happens every night, I lay in my bed for an hour or so, then I either keep laying there longer or I get up and do something.

Even if I try to wait until I feel tired (which isn’t until 3 or 4 in the morning), it still takes me a while to fall asleep. I wake up at 8 or so every morning, so im not sleeping in much.

Since staying up till 3 am isn’t an option for me, what can I do to help me fall asleep? Would diet affect this? I am pretty tired of this happening every night. I need to fix this fairly fast because I have school in 2 weeks and falling asleep at 1 am isn’t going to give me many hours.

I am a big fan of Z-12

I also spray perfume on my pillow that I use every night and it puts me in the mindset for sleep. You might consider purchasing some lavender linen spray or a plug in

for right now, my mom would tell you warm milk and nutmeg and maybe a nice warm, not too hot bath to soak in

I know what it’s like to have problems sleeping, believe me.

I take turns using Benadryl, and Melatonin, but there’s other options such as, ZMA, GABA, a form of L-Tryptophan that’s out there, but I can’t remember what it’s called.

Also, I’ll have problems sleeping if i’m hungry or even slightly dehydrated.

I hope this helps a little.

OCD. I had sleep problems for 6 months because I caused myself to. When i woul go to bed I would tell myself “i’m not going to be able to fall asleep,” and sure enough I didn’t. Once I learned to say fuck it mentally so I just didn’t care if I got enough sleep or not it panned out and I was back on track. Also it helped to diable all clocks in my room so I couldn’t worry about what time it was.

Well, I do seem to have a problem with my mind when I try to go to sleep. I lay there for a few minutes, then I start thinking about everything, most of it not real, im just imagining situations and play those situations out in my head (hard to describe, sort of like a TV show in my head, except im awake and my mind is playing out this “TV show” and I can’t really make it stop very well, I think because my mind tends to wander off when its bored). Disableing clocks might be a good idea though, i’ll try that.

For others that posted to use ZMA or whatever, I really don’t like the idea of taking substances to make my body fall asleep. I just want to fall asleep naturally.

Honestly I went through the same thing. I finally stopped caring, disabled all my clocks and made my room pitch black. I also convinvced myslef that I didn’t need to wake up early in the morning. Even if I had school at 6am I would tell myself I would just cut out to relieve all my stress and slowly but surely it went away.

EDIT: It sometimes just helps knowing many people are experiencing the same shit. Millions of people have sleeping problems and they get over them. You will too.

5-HTP (5- Hydroxytryptophan), there’s GABA, and Melatonin. Sleep MD and Z-12 are my favorites. I used Z-12 for the first time last night and I won’t be lookin back. Rescue Sleep by Bach worked decently as well.
