I’ve got a big event coming up in the next three days and I have slept horribly the last three nights. I feel like I’m going to go out of my mind if I don’t get a decent nights rest soon.
Can anyone recommend something to help {knock} me out? I’ve got a call into my doctor to see if he could prescribe me a couple of Ambien, but he’s notorious for not calling back in a timely manner.
So that leaves over-the-counter stuff. I already take 3mg of melatonin. Should I just take more (6mg?)? Or should I try something else? I fell asleep fine last night, but woke up at 3am and couldn’t get back to sleep. I’m a frickin’ zombie today.
Also, I would hope to use something that won’t make me grogy all the next day but, at this point, I’ll take what I can get. Any responses are welcome. Thanks.
Advocare makes a product called “Zzz’s” or something like that, comes as a sublingual or pill. I’ve never used it but heard good things. See if you can find a distributor in ur area.
I don’t really know about raising the dosage of melatonin, I raised it one time and felt even more tired in the morning. Then again everyone responds differently to supps, medicines, exercises etc. So I don’t really know about that.
If you can get ZMA I’m almost positive it will help you sleep better. Even if you don’t get a full eight hours sleep, you’ll feel in tune to what’s going on and not feel like a Zombie.
Sometimes I don’t get enough sleep (on-call), but I take my ZMA fall asleep pretty quick have some funky dreams wake up and don’t feel tired. I hope that helps.
“Sancho”
How about some cardio to burn off some of that nervousness?
To help stay asleep you can try an over the counter antihistamine e.g. chlortrimeton. Do not take it if you have an enlarged prostate or glacoma.
500 mg inositol is also useful to help stay asleep (that leaves me a little groggy in the AM, but I’m very sensitive, doubt it would affect you the same).
The best thing most would recommend is a good ZMA supplement. Just don’t take it with anything contains calcium, as the calcium and zinc compete through the same absorption, rendering your ZMA useless.
No one has asked yet if you are taking anything that may cause you to stay awake, like ECA stack or other stimulant?
ABMIEN is a great sleeping med. But, its only avialable through a doctor’s prescribtion. Also, its not as addictive. I have tried to use ZMA but, I don’t think it works as well.
I’ve had some really good sleep lately with the use of Phenibut. Sound/deep sleep. You may want to do a search on this as there seems to be a growing # people using Phenibut for this purpose. The only issue with it is that one tends to build up a tolerance rather quickly so 1x/week is optimal (for me).
Good luck!

Try one dose of L-theanine with one dose of melatonin. L-theanine tends to alleviate the early morning grogginess associated with some sleep aids like melatonin.
Thanks everyone for all of the good info! My doc actually came through for me with some Ambian and it did a pretty good job last night. I still woke up at 4am and couldn’t get back to sleep, but I felt much better rested than the two previous days.
I’ve printed off this thread, though, in case I ever have sleep problems in the future. This is pretty much situational (getting married), but I’m sure we all go through bouts of sleeplessness at times. Thanks again for all of the replies!
