SkyzykS's Keep Hitting It Until It Works Again Log

Glad you like! The last batch was dry and had been up for a while. It seemed like these ones were coming out beneath my feet. Like every step I took had to be a very careful one.

Those look amazing. This is a good reminder. I really need to figure out how to start foraging. I went to a local boutique’y market recently and they had local mushrooms to the county. I picked them up and absolutely loved mixing them into dishes.

That’s like $100 worth. Impressive.

I was kinda stunned when I started plucking. I caught the first couple out of the corner of my eye just by happenstance. Then got the full picture after a few seconds. :exploding_head: It was a few moments of kinda like the elation of discovery. I really like that feeling. Probably explains the long term interest.

Regional mycology clubs are a safe bet. Between look-alikes and variations of appearance theres a lot of room for error.

Oh man. The patch pictured is about half an acre of varying density. Up the hill a bit is one that covers about 2 acres that I didn’t even bother with. Maybe next week or two. I can only eat so much!.

Western PA is crazy good for for forraging.

Found more! Thought of exactly this too.

Headed out with my neighbor this morning. We had a good time. He’s a good cook to, so we’ll be able to swap foods & whatnot. :face_savoring_food: :+1:.

Talked to my Pittsburgh son this morning, and it looks like we’re going to head down at some point. Not sure how to think about incorporating a visit of some sort with you, but I am mulling it all over. I did tell him about my 20 years of “bodybuilders” today, though, in another context.

A possibility we discussed was for all of us up here (3/4 of my kids are local-ish to me) to rent a giant RV for the drive (~10 hours maybe) (~14 now that I remember about the kids and Louie) but that’s probably another pie-in-the-sky great idea of mine that no one but Hockey Guy will be into. Though even Hockey Guy was like “Seatbelts?” And then suggested putting the kids on the bed in slippery nylon sleeping bags and then stopping short so they go shooting/sliding into the main cabin. Which does sound like fun. It would certainly get Louie going!

I texted everyone about it (not the kids getting launched around part) and no one has responded. If 10 of us are driving around in a giant RV, a visit might not be practical, lol.

I wanted to respond to let you know I got this, but I’m in the midst of some kind of bug. I slept so hard my neck hurts.
So now its back to snooze on the other side to see if that fixes it. :+1: :hugs:.

Sending hugs and prayers to feel better and heal that neck thing!

Hope neck and bug are both feeling better!

Neck is meh, bug is on the upswing.

I was thinking about your visit. If you’re here and have some down time,I’d like to meet you too. But I wouldnt want to detract from family time. I know itineraries can be hectic, and more people= more hectic.

If thats still part of a plan.

Her sentence was 20 to life, and I almost let her off the hook a few years ago, so she’ll probably make parole when it comes up in a couple years.

Thanks!

They’re just doodles. I might do a “Go Steelers!” Or something and see how that goes.

I went for a nice walk.

Found some good shrooms. no, not those.

These.

And went up a really big hill.

Not quite…

There.

Bit of a victory. Haven’t done this one from bottom to top since “the big 'un” .
So I’m pretty happy about that.

And these.

And @EmilyQ , I hope your sons ankle is healthy & strong. If we get some nice fall rains, this could be a great fall shrooming season. :+1:

Ha, show’s what kind of mother I am - I’d forgotten all about it! He’s young, though, so I’m sure it’s fine. Also, he just got back from Denmark and Portugal, and didn’t gripe about it during our post-trip catchup, which he surely would have it it had slowed him.

Excellent! Now we just need some rain!

I’m off to my appointment. I wish you could meet my therapist. She’s such a great person. I imagine you two would hit it off really well. She reads a lot too.
