I guess an update and assessment is in order.

I finished up cardiac rehab as of Friday. I’m happy to have done it, and definitely feel better and stronger for it. Those folks are wonderful people.

As per my joking around in the confessions thread, I’ve gotten another 100 lbs. recently, for a total of like 335 lbs. of plates. Same couple of her heads. Plenty to lift and get/be strong with.

So thats what I’m gonna do with that. I can’t remember the last time I couldn’t lift at least 300 lbs. but at the same time, I haven’t maxed out in a long time, and am considering that maybe I don’t need to any more. I’ll hit 350 on the deadlift then go from there. I can just push reps and what ever else till when ever.

For today I got my ass tossed around the yard for a while by this thing:

My wife and tree buddy conspired against me to do something nice. :upside_down_face: So I’m test driving this mower in order to determine whether or not it’s the right one for the job so that I’m not using my regular old push/occasionally self propelled mower. It needs a little tune up and whatnot, but it’s an awesome machine. I used to use the same one, full throttle top gear, all day every day for a few years.

This is not those years. It will take some getting used to. And I’ll probably end up cutting the neighbors grass too when the heat and humidity aren’t brutal.

Tonight I…

Warm up- 2 sets of 12 push-ups

Upper super set- ohp @ 90 and by rows @ 110, 5x5.

Then ohp for singles at 100, 110, 120, 130.

For the singles I push press it up then bring it down and do the rep. I like the stretch/loading effect of lowering the weight. Probably a remnant of my years as a benchetarian. It just feels gooder.

Super set:
Side delt raises, 3 drop sets- 20 lb. 5 reps, to 10 lb. for 10 reps.

Triceps extensions 10 lbs. 20 reps.

Ez-bar curls, 2 sets, 10 reps, 60 lbs.

And I’m spent.

I’ve been wanting to work the shoulders a little more lately. We’ll see how this goes.

Tonight’s fun- deadlifts.

Triples:

90 lbs.

140 lbs.

190 lbs.

240 lbs.

Singles:

290

310

Then SLDL at 190 for 6 sets of 3.

That felt good. All of the triples felt nice and fast, especially the sldl’s. They were just flying after working up like that. Aggression level blasted off at my second to last and last set of sldl for what ever reason, which I don’t mind, just found it odd. All of the sudden the switch flicked it felt like the bar lost fifty lbs.

I like that. I havent been there in a while. Can’t go there too often, but it’s nice to know it’s still there. :+1:

Since he didn’t get his eyes dilated he drove home just fine, but not before we wandered around a little and got some meximerican stuff at a place a few blocks back.

Warmup:

Push-ups 1 set of 10, 1 set of 15.

Strict ohp: 90 lbs. 6x6

Then a bunch of cleans from a hang & clean & stuff.

Pretty good upper cut.

Finally.

Youtoob is kinda on the blink and turning all my stuff into shorts. Kinda irritating.

There’s something good about 10x10.

I missed it, so tonight I did OHP, 70 lbs. 10x10.

It just feels right. Kinda brutal, but right. I didn’t hit the wall at the 7th set like last time, so that’s better.

Followed by

Hang cleans, 90 lbs., explosive. 3x3

And dumbell rows 35 lbs, 3x15.

So we’ll see how that suits me in the next couple days.

Pumpin da gunz tonight for no good reason at all.

4 sets of 15 Push-ups/ supersetted with lateral delt raises.

Curls- 6 sets of 6 at 60 lbs.

Then the pizza arrived.

That stopped everything else dead, plus I have some fitting & welding to do tomorrow early.

And just having some fun with filters. And faces. Sorry Jocko.

And also, @EmilyQ I didn’t do all of that damage to the pizza. I only had 2 slices. But I had a big ass chicken breast salad for mid day.

Along the same lines of food/nutrition, I got some casien powder that seems to agree with me like nothing else. I recovered from that 10x10 well and quickly enough to get that most recent lift in, and feel good/rested/recovered enough to have a relatively functional day today.

That’s as good as anything has been in a couple of years.

Had to squeeze a fast DL session in tonight.

So

3 @ 90

3 @ 140

3 @ 190

3 @ 240

And 3 singles @ 290.

That hit the spot. No frills, short rest periods until the last set, got it in under a ½ hour.

Tonight’s late dinner/tomorrow’s lunch salad topping.

I’m finally dialed in on that new broiler.

And some spontaneous sautéed sweet red peppers with balsamic. :yum:

And then this.


It’s a buttload of braised pork ribs, sautéed red onions then threw in some sour kraut. Seasoned with garlic, anise, and white cardamom.

The result isn’t very photogenic though.

Didn’t get a chance to eat it yet either. Tasted a few times though! Ended up with kids playing and grilling with the neighbors.

Ah, the best laid plans.

Had the best intentions of having something to log but got kinda busy running around doing stuff and now I’m beat.

So this is like a null post. Or an admission of sorts. I dunno.

Maybe tomorrow.

But I did get this done, so I can sleep a little better.

It’s the cart for my welding kit, which will make things like, infinitely easier.

I got the bright idea, no idea where, ( @ChongLordUno ) to take the kiddo outside and do some burpees. So we did a couple for practice then knocked out 10.

Felt pretty good. I noticed some tightness in my left shoulder this morning which was exposed as instability during the push up.

Got a visit from Mika too. She’s a good kitty.

Also, last night was me and Wife’s 14th anniversary.

She made this cake. Orange creamsicle. :heart:
