No chest pain from the stess test?

Ah, a little. I get like a little tightness for an hour or so after/during any amount of exertion. Sometimes that and a hard pinching just to the right of center. I’m all clear of it now, but even after that ride I got a touch of it.

Notthing like the thing in mid December or a real heart attack though. That was legit unstable angina.

It’s pretty much like a stop sign, but not a “call an ambulance” sign.

Getting into some fancy tomato stuff.

I don’t know who I am anymore.

Tonight the kiddo joined me so we did push ups and hammer curls.

4 sets of 10 on push ups. Did them off of a set of hex head dumbells at about a 45° I don’t even know how to describe, grip angle?

1 set of 10 with a 25 lb. plate on my back (kiddo wanted to see that)

1 set of 12 because he threw a couple more on to the last set. He’s a little nut.

Hammer curls, 6 sets of 10, 20 lb.

It was just getting something in and having some fun.

Felt good. Had fun. What more could one want?

Do you have an air fryer? You can make your own healthy Sweet potato fries. Not quite as good as the real grease fried ones (10), but close (7).

I do not, but they keep coming up in conversation as being really awesome, and I do have to avoid the traditional grease.

Even those chips, with all of the happiness sucked out of them, are made with the typical industrial fry oil.

Got my cholesterol tested recently. Not terrible, but not great either. LDL a little high, HDL a little low, everything else kinda so-so.

Edit: After a little foray into the air fryer thing I’m wondering why I don’t have one.

Given your affinity for Russian soldiers and more recently vodka, I figured you’d like this meme.

So there’s that.

I’d have a terrible time not shooting everybody in the face. No matter what I do, how hard I try not to, I always shoot, punch, kick, or otherwise destroy peoples faces.

The last snowfall we had I was laughing with my neighbor as my kid bombed snowballs at me. I said to him “You want to see a bad parent moment?”, to which he looked puzzled. I go “Watch this…” and tossed a snowball no look, over the shoulder-direct hit to my kids face from like 40 feet away.

As it was leaving my hand I was actually saying “this is why I don’t throw back…” then Pop! AGHHHH!

I like these also.
Spritz with a little olive oil if you want oily.

Did a 10 mile ride this afternoon. Had to try it just to get a little something different in. It took about 45 min. which was actually nice. More meditative than anything.

Now it’s reaching “Have to talk to the wife” level. I know she likes surprises, but I have to make sure it lands right.

Not like that nice fly rod I got her for her birthday a while back. :joy:

Nice 3 miler in 12:00 min. on the nose. It felt great too.

I dunno what is related to what, but I had some fresh pineapple as a late night snack (3:00am.)and was startled awake by the feeling that all of the tension in my chest just released. Haven’t felt this clean & clear in like 8 months. There is some good things written about bromelain, so maybe that’s it. Who knows?

Listened to this for the ride-

Shoveled out the driveway. Took that easy. That’s how my old wrestling coach died. No need to be a cliché.

Got a decent ride in, 5 miles in 19:48, then another 3 miles using left leg only. Don’t know why, but it has gotten markedly weaker. Noticed on the stress test that it just seemed to gas out and has been feeling funny sometimes.

Started warming up with dumbell ohp and curls but the wife expressed concern at both the time, (1:00 am) and exertion level.

She has some valid points.

One of my favorite songs to do anything to played along for the ride-

Ahh gotcha. Any new plans from your cardio after the stress test?

Not at this time. Their assessment was that I have a “low risk chest”.

It’s confusing. I’m on a new med, ranolazine, since mid December. I looked through the procedure notes and my circumflex is at 80% blocked, but the drug seems to be working.

But thats a 10% increase in a year and a half, when it took who knows how long (I’d noticed getting winded, tired, etc. for about 10 years).

But looking at the criteria for angioplasty and stenting is as follows-70% blockage or greater is a candidate but only if it is causing unstable angina that can’t be treated with meds and/or myocardial infarction.

So I guess that with that in mind, they’re going to hold off on anything invasive at this point, and we’ll just stay the course with the meds. That ranolazine is some interesting stuff though.

So that’s what that does! :joy:

It actually does seem to work as intended, too.

The myogenesis thing seems weird. Doesn’t appear to work on da gunz though. Actually, I don’t know if that is a selective action or if it works on all skeletal muscle. I’ll ask in April. Unless you happen to know.

Over all though I can definitely tell something has changed, and my threshold for exertion has moved waaaaay the fuck back. Like month 2 or 3 post heart attack. Anything past that threshold and I’m down for a couple of days.

More recently I’ve been of the mind of “Fuck it. If I’m going to go down, I’m going down swinging.”. It seems like another MI is virtually inevitable at some point, who knows when? Might as well push as hard as I can so that if or when that does happen I’ll maybe stand a better chance than if I hadn’t.

I’m not quite there yet to know the ins and outs of angioplasty to be honest. Let’s hope Ranolazine does some next level magic though. Surgery always has its inherent risks.

I get your point in the last paragraph. I guess just listen to your body carefully. You know best your limits. What’s for sure though is you’d be way worse without exercise

Well heck, I’ve had a few now, I can just about do it myself! If I wake up on the next one enough to fill in some blanks… :joy:

Yeah. The doc (different one, part of the same professional group though) went in through my femoral artery at the hip crease in December, and I guess that carries a serious risk of bleeding post-op. “Popping the plug” was what the guy in the recovery room called it.

He kept direct pressure on for 45 minutes then no moving, none-for 4 hrs. Like not even moving my head.

I guess they close it up with a collagen plug in the artery and if you move it can actually pop out, then you hemorrhage from the femoral artery.

That would suck.

Oh yeah. The doc is real big on that. He has said a few things like “Dramatically better outcomes with people who exercise regularly” among other things.

Yes, of course. Too many people looking out for me to do anything silly. I’ve been adhering to a driving analogy. Stopping at stop signs, signaling when I’m turning or going to do something different, hitting the brakes a little ahead of time, etc.

So how are you? Did you successfully navigate a minefield of pretty much everything in the food world that I’d love to dive straight into, restrictions be damned?
