Today is an off day from lifting. I did some ESW…KB swings and hill sprints. I may go for a walk or swim later on. I’m trying not to overdo it because I sucked last weekend. We did trap bar deads with chains last weekend. Between my sucky grip and overtraining, it was a short workout. The chains murdered me!! WW said I shouldn’t be doing direct legs training more than twice a week, too CNS-taxing.

My hamstrings are really tight, I need to buy a foam roller. They have them at my gym, but I rarely have time to do it there. When is the best time to foam roll…befor you lift or after?
Anyone?

I prefer to warm up and then foam roll. I find it loosens my muscles and brings enough blood to them that they don’t hurt when I start lifting. On my off days (or if I’m particularly sore) I’ll roll again before bed. If I don’t roll before I lift and my legs already are a little achey, it takes more warm up sets to get ‘warm’ and my legs feel like crap for most of the session.

For your hamstrings, try a tennis/lacrosse ball. I personally find it awkward as hell to get enough pressure on my hamstrings with the roller. The tennis ball lets you target a bit more which I find works better for me for my hams/glutes. I may just be slow though…
Thanks, Court. I’m gonna try tennis balls. Lacrosse balls sound daunting and painful…

:frowning: bluah!!! i’m sorry to hear about your craptastic gym, i’ve been there, and its very frustrating to be all pumped up but unable to do stuff cuz the equipment is lacking:( GRR!!!

yeha, and the gvt is nice, but i’m getting really full and swollen in my legs. which i’m taking as a good sign, but its kinda uncomfortable at times and makes em feel like a lardo–though i know its to be expeted when my cute pants are like wheezing to get my legs into.

word up on the hanging leg raises!!! i gotta work on mine, my stupid grip gives out as usual way before my abs do, oh well…i will continue to be jealous of the grasshoper!! BLAST!!! i hope your gym experience gets better :(
Muscle gain can be one big mind-f*ck.You feel fat, when you’re just ‘swole’…lol
Your lifts are waaaayyy better than mine, Sindie. I know you’ll be pulling in the 300s really soon and I’ll be really jealous…

The weather has been soo nice the past couple of days. I went for a nice long walk yesterday evening.
Today’s workout:

Incline DB press 7x4(30)

Chins(assisted) 7x4

Dips(bench) w/ 35lb plate 7x4

Reverse grip BB curl 2x4(40)- these hurt my wrists so much, I switched to regular grip to finish 5x4

Went to the pool and swam for about an hour. Between horsing around, we managed to get some laps drills.
I’m hoping that won’t mess up my training tomorrow. I’ve been foam rolling and stretching
my funky hamstrings for the past two days.

ooh man…thank god its nearly summer. i hear ya, here in denver its so flirty , one day its gorgeous and i’m in tank tops laughing the next its cold and i’m pissed. pool sounds nice though!!!

Yeah, I’m kind of looking forward to summer but I’m also not because it gets really humid down here. Sucks!! If it keeps raining like this it’s gonna be really muggy and sticky.

Saturday is normally my training day with WW but he was moving so I think we may train today depending on whether he’s up for it or not. If not, I’ll go in and do my regular leg workout.

Which means yesterday was an off day, went to my old gym to train Muay Thai. Training royally kicked my ass!! My core is gotten weak, I could barely keep up with the ab circuit. Even my gloves felt heavier than usual. My shoulders and upper back are royally sore.I’d love to keep doing this once, maybe twice a week. It a nice change of pace and it felt good to hit something :-H

I think I’ve officially lost my I-pod, sucks balls!! When I’m done mourning my loss, I’ll have to go look for a Shuffle or something to keep me going for now.

Today’s workout:
With WW…

Warm up, activation

Overhead squats
10x10
23.5x8
23.5x10
45x5
45x10
55x8
55x10

DL
115x5 (Conventional, warm-up)

125x3(Sumo)
135x3
185x3
190x3
200x3
210x3
215x3

Finished with plate pushes with 45lb plate x8 in the aerobics room since it’s raining outside.

Exhausted, but I get a day off tomorrow and I found my Ipod…in my sneakers.

i love overhead squats!! they are a total balance trip though. oh man! that sucks you lost your ipod!! GRRR!!! i’d be so sad if my mp3 player died…it has a few times and it totally throw off my universe, horrible :frowning:

Sindie, I think you’re hella strong and you should start a log here. My best friend loves your tattoos, btw.
OH squats killed my shoulders yesterday. I have a new-found respect for them.
I found my Ipod, I was rushing to get to the pool on Friday and forgot I had stuck it in my sneakers. And since I didn’t wear my sneakers Saturday coz we do Muay Thai bare-foot, I was sure I had lost it coz I couldn’t find it in the usual places. Come Sunday, I’m rushing to go workout and, voila!
I was miserable Saturday…I’m gonna be nicer to it from now on…lol. I am nobody without my music.

Yesterday was a complete off day.

Today’s training:
SA Rows: 35x6, 5x6(40)
Back Squat: 1x6(95), 5x6(135)
V-up press: 5x6

Sprinter sit-ups: 3x12
Med ball weave throughs: 3x30

Jump rope 500revs super-setted with double-unders/high knee sprints for the last 40revs…100 was too few. I wasn’t even tired.

aw excellent! thank god you found your ipod-- i love it when things like that happen

and thanks for the tattoo compliment form your buddy! totally made my day

I will let her know. Oh, and you need to start a log.

Yesterday was an off day so I did my cardio; incline walking on the treadmill for 20min.

Today’s training:

Superset
SLDLs 3x11(135)
Flat DB neutral grip bench: 3x11(25)
Cable Rows: 3x11(75)

Overhead squat: 3x11(45)
Half inchworms: 3x11

Palm out DB curls: 3x11(15)
Cable tricep extensions: 3x11 (20)

Jumprope 10minutes…just for the heck of it.

Skyel7,
You are doing so great with your workouts and such.
I’ve had a great 2nd week with WW. Yesterday I was starving but made it through the day without getting off my eating plan.
Today is my favorite day. I love doing those band pull ups. I can really see some changes in my back and its only two weeks. I still have two more weeks before I take pics again so I can’t imagine what I can do.
I love WW workouts. I’m in and out of the gym in about 45 minutes or less and yet I’m spent and know I have done a great job.
Keep up the good work and enjoy your workout tomorrow.
Kathleen

Thanks for stopping by, Kathleen! Pull-ups/chins are addicting especially once you get the ball rolling.
Are you doing one of the total body workouts? The energy turnover on those is huge and I find that I’m hungry all the time when I’m doing those. I found that total body = fat loss and half body = major muscle/strength gains.

Yesterday being an off day, I should have gone to the pool or done some ESW but I committed the worst crime, yet. I blew everyone off to hang out with my ex at Fatt Matt’s. The BBQ was sooo worth it. I hope I don’t end up LOOKING like Fatt Matt…

I got my body fat tested today, I’m down to 18%. I was expecting worse since I’ve really been slacking off in the fat loss department and my weight had gone up by 2lbs in the last month or so. My waist measurement is up by 3/4 of an inch. I’m not sure if that’s because of the DL-ing.
So the mini goal is to drop to 16% in the next two weeks. Then I’m allowed some HOT-ROX to help me get to 14, which will round it off nicely as 10%bf loss.

Today’s training:

Tri-set:(had me sweating like crazy!! Not as easy as it looks…)

A1)DB step-ups 3x8 (20s I used a step that had my thigh at slightly higher than 90 degrees so I went lighter)
A2Plate loaded hip pop-ups 3x16(10lb plate)
A3)Single leg squat 3x8(10lbs)

B1)45deg Hyperextensions 2x8(45lb plate)
B2)Band pull-throughs 2x8

I was gonna go for Muay Thai, probably not a good idea on leg day.

whoa! that is excellent about your bf results! are you just trying for fat loss in general or are you competing in stuff? whoa! that is really impressive!!! way to go!

No, I’m not planning to compete, just trying to lower my set point. I’m hoping I can get to about 14-15% by July and maintain it year round.

Today’s training:

Incline DB Bench: 1x8(25) warm-up, 7x4(30)
Assisted Chins: 7x4
Dips: 7x4 with 25lb plate
RG BB curls: 7x4(50)
SA DB rows: 7x4(40)

Weighted crunches 3x10
Hanging leg raises 3x8
Russian Twists 3x10
Tabata KB swings 8sets to finish off.

Right now I’m working with Wolf on a private basis. I’m doing three FB type workouts. I have been hungry. I’m also wrapping up the last week of training for my half marathon up at Notre Dame on the 6th of June. So I have been busy.

I love the FB workouts. I’m not sure what he will plan for next month. The ESW is so tough but I love it because I can get in and out in under 1/2 hour.

I’m not sure if I’ve had any scale weight changes but I know I feel slimmer. I’m going to take my measurements tomorrow and see what changes I’ve had. I still have two more weeks before I submit him pictures again.

It’s so hard to see changes in yourself as I tend to be very critical. I’m hoping he sees something better than I do.

Keep up the good work.
