I totally agree with eating breakfast everyday. I make sure to do it myself and its 2 cups oatmeal with 12oz skim. I eat that everyday of the week after my workout.
I also cannot disagree with gi2eg, who has a different approach but says he gets good results with what he does. I dont see whats wrong with either choice.
With that said i choose to eat breakfast and others may not. Maybe if you want to be a big body builder type versus a normal fit person, yeah it may matter to eat 6-8 times a day to bulk up etc.
There is no right or wrong answer because its a matter of personal choice. I do what my body likes and what works for me to reach my performance goals so i agree with gi2eg and the the other ideas as well.
Eating atleast soemthing for breakfast everyday makes a huge difference. I play football as well and i go to a speed and agility trainer 3 times a week. I went in early one day without breakfast and the results were dramatic. Exercises that i’d usually knock out one after another were very taxing on my body, the trainer could tell too.
He figured it out instantly and brought me some pumpkin cookies(they were excellent). Almost immediately i had instantaneous energy. I powered through my workout and never again will i go a day without eating breakfast and neither should anyone.

You’re right, although he’s a big guy already, since absolute strength is more important than relative (unlike most positions other than O-line, even D-line), he could forcefeed all the time/whole-ass it.
I still think that most people that eat all the time are heavier than they need to be for optimal performance.
If someone is eating and getting fat, they aren’t training hard enough. The more you eat the faster your metabolism gets (to an extent, I’m aware.) (Also doesn’t mean candy bars all day will cut it)

I think his progress is pretty average. And it would be better if he ate properly. It’s pretty simple I think
Your pancreas loves pumping out insulin 6 or so times per day. You’ll never become insulin resistant. Then, your digestive system is thrilled to work constantly and doesn’t mind being clogged up all the time.
And then, there’s the battle between your sympathetic nervous system and your parasympathetic nervous system – when you eat, the sympathetic slows down and the parasympathetic system turns on, making you nice and docile and sleepy (perfect foe digesting food). You then get to drink 6 cups of coffee per day, just to stay awake. How exciting!!
Yes, eating constantly, after a million or so years of being hunter-gatherers, is utterly brilliant! There’s no such thing as high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, or all the other things that people who eat all the time supposedly get. Nah, its all a myth.

It takes me about an hour to get hungry in the mornings. Do you all literally eat something right when you wake up?
weekdays , right after a shower I’m eating .
weekends I may dally around a bit…maybe a quick something right away and then breakfast an hour or two later
I tried skipping breakfast for a while…long story short, by lunch I was elbow deep in chicken and felt horribly sluggish come gym time.
Added in eggs + nuts to my morning routine and BANG…no more crazy hunger n energy swings.
wow, the more I read about this the more interesting it gets; I didn’t realize that the biggest surge of cortisol occurs in the morning when you wake up to, in fact, wake you up. I guess this is a bad environment for muscle building? Maybe I should just suck it up and eat something the second I wake up, or am I misunderstanding something?

Another question for me is:
Why would you want to not eat breakfast?
If I do not have a big breakfast, I am feeling fucking hungry the whole morning until lunch.
Some people do this out of habit, they fail to plan their morings to include breakfast and don’t make time. After doing this for long periods they adjust and do not feel hungry in mornings.
Some people actually believe it is affective for fat lose.
For me I am often late for work as I refuse to skip breakfast. I really cannot remember the last time I missed it. I typically eat half hour after waking.
Those that miss breakfast intensionally I’d like to know the reasons why.

I see your point, but bodybuilding isn’t exactly a ‘natural’ thing to do anyway in terms of our bodies and metabolisms.
Intermittent fasting, whilst not good for BBing purposes either, is far closer to how we would have eaten in primitive times. Do you do that? I thought not.

Yes, I do do that. I eat very little all day and then eat rather continuously after my evening workout. This fits with someone who hunts all day, kills something, brings it home for dinner. Who am I to fight how we evolved? ;>
