It’s awesome that we’re even debating this with guys like Bauber on the forum.
Well that’s another point I’d like to make. It’s not a game of “top 1%”. So little of the Earth’s population even lifts that it’s a game of fractions. Bauber would be like top .000001% lol!
Agreed. And Bauber would be at the top percentile at this site then go to a site like PM and he drops quite a bit. Again it’s defining the population I was speaking more of developed countries if I had to actualky define it.

Lol I am extremely confident. In how I look my brain ect. I know I look better than 99% of the population. I am saying that is no accomplishment that I am proud of.
lol…really? Maybe in Wisconsin you’re a big fish but not around where I live. LOL…at better than 99% of the population. Thanks for making my morning.

Somebody wake up on the wrong side of the bed today? You really gonna argue that the populations as whole looks healthy? Majority are skinny fat or just plain fat
Looking good is subjective anyway. I was mainly pointing out I have confidence in how I look but strive for so much more
Hope day gets better. Or keep raging its all good

Nope, I’m in a good mood actually or I wouldn’t have posted.
You look great, no doubt. But I see 4 or 5 guys who look like you whenever I go to the gym (and not the same 4 or 5 guys). Hit the beach here in SoCal and there’s plenty of people who carry this same look.
I’m simply saying that it’s a tall order to say that you look better than 99% of the population and especially since, as you point out, it’s really subjective.

I feel the same way, I walk past myself in the mirror in my house and just think hmm I need bigger lats, a better cut for my obliques and so on. But I go to my friends graduation party and these two girls im friends with are like “when did you get so hot and ripped?” even though I feel like i look the same.
I think it’s good to find a balance. Along the lines of matty, I look at the mirror and think I look like crap, and come on this site and think my lifts are crap. This keeps me hungry for improvement.
On the other hand, I’m very confident with myself and know I’m a beautiful man. We put a lot of effort into this so it’s only healthy to enjoy the results. I get a lot of odd comments and am objectified a lot now, so I can’t imagine some of the comments you truly huge guys get

That’s a very small sample size. A drop in bucket. Hence why I did not state I looke better than 99% of the people in so cal. Or a gym population. Ect. So cal is a skewed population in terms of being for anyways. Which is great
I have no weird self image issues and generally know where I stand in relation to those around me, but group photos are usually the big eye opener. It puts perspective on how big/small you are in comparison to those around you.
That said, I’m more on the athletic side and don’t spend much time looking at pictures of elite bodybuilders and comparing myself to them.

It doesn’t work that way. He said 99% of the population not that he looks better than 99% of the people standing immediately around him at the mall. His self-image is skewed alright but not in the way that the OP meant.
I’m still laughing at the "I look better than 99% of the population. Seriously.
james
What the fuck James? You’re arbitrarily defining “population” for him. Don’t put words in other people’s mouths man; that’s not cool! As a guy with a statistics background, in the absence of any clarifications or specifications, when I see the word “population” I always default to the population of the world. Population in statistics is the largest group you could plausibly extrapolate your data to. As a human being, I see ryan’s claim of “better than 99% of the population” as being physically more capable than 99% of human beings on Earth. Now given the world-wide population, that claim seems VERY plausible does it not? Do you not think he is stronger and physically more impressive than 99% of the world population? It’s just math, whether you like the way it sounds or not.
Thank for understanding what I meant when I said population.
So you’re saying that you look better (whatever that means) than 99% of the population of the entire world?

This pretty much mirrors my personal thoughts about it too. I know I’m bigger, leaner, stronger than some and smaller, fatter, weaker than others. The key is to just try to keep improving on all three of those things. I would rather focus on people who are bigger, stronger, and leaner than me than anything else.

Yes that would have been what I was implying. And since someone did the math already that’s a lot of ppl that look better

Yes it is. All of us have good jobs, live in countries where this is possible, and we all have access to the things we need.
I’m much more impressed by the single mom who’s got two jobs and a kid and still goes to college to finish her degree.
At what point does this sub-forum become less of a circle jerk and more of a place to teach and learn? No, I’m really not trying to be a dick even though I’m coming across as one. Threads like this just really irritate me because they are just ways for people to compliment each other. But complimenting each other doesn’t do anything. It doesn’t get you bigger, stronger, or leaner.

From 0 to 100 on the butthurt scale in less than 10 seconds.
That has to be a record?

Why does this sentence keep popping up? I am much more impressed with the single mom with two kids who only works one job because it is a high paying job and she is very successful.
See how dumb it sounds to just randomly one up something?
