Size of Chicken Breasts

Anyone have a general guideline of the size of a chicken breast?

I usually eat 6-8 small pieces a day (on top of other stuff, of course [tuna, shakes, shrimp, veggies, etc…]). They are about the size of a credit card or maybe a bit smaller. Maybe 2-3" long by 1-2" wide. Think it’s like 3oz? That’s my guess.

Also, does anyone else hate when they put the coins on top of the dollar bills when they give you change at the cashier? Honestly. Makes it is awkward: they each have a different destination. Change in one hand, cash in the other.

scales aren’t expensive. It would probably be worth the $20.00 to buy one and weigh your food until you become familiar with portion size.

That or if you get really serious when cutting the scale will be a handy tool to have around

Im pretty serious. Have been for a good bit now. I just usually dont worry about portions. Just eat as much protein as a I can.

But not a bad idea. I may just do that. The old ball and chain already thinks I am overly obsessed with training, this will push her over the edge. Sweet.

i THINK 6oz chicken breast is about 40-45 ggrams protein… many sources give mixed numbers though…

and i hate coins in general.

and are those your calves in your avatar? looking solid.

haha!!! I hope she ends up getting into it like you

My local grocery store, “Albertsons” will let me order prepackaged and weighed meats. I usually pick up 12 4oz cuts of steak, and 12 of 6ozs of chicken, shrimp, and scallops. I still am not crazy about fish, unless it is catfish and beer battered and served with a beer, so that is off for a while.

I do like salmon but that is usually already packaged in 6oz.

take advantage of in-store butchers. My butcher told me his job was pretty boring so he doesn’t mind special requests.

and obviously we probably have different portion sizes! I was just using my order as an example

About 6-8 oz per piece. I’ve seen 10oz breasts on a chicken once. No fillers, no water/sodium its more of a fucking brine, and skinless. 8-10oz of chicken breast per chicken meal is my M.O. That puts me at 57-72 grams of protein per chicken meal. If I get 3 of those bad boys in, life is good.

lol you are in the central part of our state where Agriculture offers such great sizes of chicken :stuck_out_tongue: lol jk

I’m back down south and it sucks because I’m used to fresh oranges off of a tree, now I get nothing but B.S. when I go to the store. lol

I do know that 6-8 oz of meat is what most nutrition facts base off of. Then they say that it’s about the size of your hand, being we all have different sized hands and I could probably put at 10 ozer on mine, I think getting a scale is the best bet. lol

Gerdy

oh yeah Gerdy, you gotta weigh it out. Until you get the “food scale eye” then you can eyeball the right portion.

I think people should just weigh stuff with these two measurements: A LOT…and…a little.

when bulking consume A LOT of (insert food here)
when cutting consume a little of (insert food here)

lol

*let me emphasize I’m not against weighing food, but make sure your doing everything else perfectly or it’s not going to matter lol

DG

I feel warm and fuzzy when I weigh my food. Little cartoon birds sing around me when I weigh my food. lol
