Size Matters

A study conducted by Dr. David Barker, a professor at the University of Southampton in England, suggests that there may be ties between the rate of a person`s physical growth in childhood and his income in later life.

The British Ananova news agency reports that the study of 4,630 Finnish men, born between 1934 and 1944, revealed that those who were below average size as one-year-olds not only ended up earning significantly less than others in their peer group, but were also less likely to attain a high level of education.

“The differences are significant irrespective of social originsm,” said Barker. “Something is happening to the brain that`s pretty much worked out in the first year of life.”
