haha. Next time do them with some speed and fling it over your head!
I was afraid that that might happen. We need to design a foot hanger.
Nice job at the meet. Did you have fun? There was quite a bit going on. I wish I were able to get down.
Thanks. Numbers were nothing special (and obviously raw), but it was fun to get back on the platform after a year. Also, for the first time ever I went 9/9!
I’ve also made a decision. I’m quitting my job to become a full time powerlifting coach. I think the money from endorsements alone should set me up for life! I made the decision after I realized that with very little effort I have now coached an IPF World Champion (BB got the gold in Bench right?) and over the week-end I added 3 Provincial records and a national record to my coaching resume!!!
That is totally where the big cash is. Who were you coaching? That will make a big difference. If it’s homely old men, there isn’t much money. Cute young girls that have marketability are a horse of a different colour.
I’m glad you had a good time. I bet it’s a bit less stressful not worrying about all the gear. I’ve just heard a couple of people complain that is was a long day. I think they’re whiners.
Classic is really beginning to take off and there’s been a lot of back and forth lately about the logistics of meets with Classic and equipped. This year’s AGM promises to be super fun.
Who was reffing? Was if Chris F. and Maggie R.? They both wrote their tests in August.
I’d have to be careful coaching the young, marketable girls. It usually leads to scandal, divorce and me lossing have of my endorsement contracts!!!
Not sure if you know him or not, but I was helping Steve Spilak. He was competing in both the Bench Championship and the 3-lift open. By then und of the day he went 6/6 on his benches, 4 at or above 190kgs (83kg class) and all were bench only or open records for Ontario. He was excited to say the least. Downside was he went 1/3 on his squats and ended up just missing his class 1.
I will say it was a long day, but not really due to the classic. I think it had more to do with the bench only first. Bench only weigh-ins started at 7:30am, 3-lift weigh in at 9, then 3 lift lifting at 11:30 due to the bench going too long. I left at 5:30pm and the last flight was just starting deadlifts.
As for the classic, definitely less stressful, but I’ll take gear anyday!..I’m just too fat for mine (Nov.2010- 74.9kg; Nov 2011 86.7kgs).
And yes, Chris F. was reffing. Did a pretty good job I’d say… a little on the red light side. haha
