I finally put a video together of the meet. They are the three lifts that counted. For some reason, the quality on Youtube looks like poop.
you are beautiful to watch!
just what I needed before hitting the gym.
**** fantastic ![]()
That was great lifting and everything was so dignified.
Makes SPF meets look like a drunken brawl.
very nice lifts Julie! Squats were sure purdy.
Great meet! I think you had some more in ya for the bench. You smoked it!
Thanks for the nice compliments everyone.
Colin, I think you’re right about the bench. Maybe I’ve been sandbagging it for years. I just explained to everyone that I came by it by sleeping with a bencher ![]()
Joe, you’re right about the vibe at an IPF meet being different than other feds. It’s a bit quiet. Someone once compared them to being in a church.
Congrats you were definitely charged up. I cursed you this afternoon…after watching that pause bench work I apparently was thinking about it so much that I could tell i was lingering longer than usual during mine.

Well yes, the dignified bit would annoy me.
Now that I’ve shown the serious video, I thought I’d entertain everyone with my deadlift opener. This is pretty much what happened at nationals as well. Given the number of falls, stumbles and mishaps at the meet, I feel like I was in good company.
^so…did they red light you for that? I thought it looked solid. ![]()

Sadly they did. Failure to lock out, lower the bar under control and remain off my ass ![]()
lolz - it happens. glad you can look back and laugh ![]()
That pull made me very nervous when I was watching you on livestream. I noticed you are unbalanced even on the pull you locked out. Any suspicions on what’s causing that or how to fix it?
Loved the meet video – I always enjoy watching you lift. I also appreciate you posting the deadlift fail. Honestly, it makes me feel like I’m in good company with all of my struggles.
Great Job- making it look easy.
the fail - makes it more impressive
nice work.

The cause is easy… the further you point your toes out, the smaller your base becomes and the more difficult it is to balance. Try turning your toes straight out like a plie for an exagerated example. To create a more solid base, you would rotate your toes more forward. The danger with that, for me at any rate, it that it ceases to become a sumo pull and becomes, instead a wide stance conventional where more back is used. Toe/Foot rotation affects the muscles I use to pull. When my toes are forward, I end up farther over the bar and am back dominant.
I have to dial in the right amount of rotation that gives me a solid base and keeps it a sumo pull.
Nice job O…What meet is next for you? Sorry if you already posted that, i’m a little behind on logs.

yowee, I get so concerned that the bar is going to crash on a leg…takes a champ to come back and nail it!..
guess I’m the opposite, short stocky legs, I can get those plies or toes more rotated without losing balance…ass is just a bit closer to the ground…lol
